Well I'm 10 weeks post op and I've been ok'd to work my first football game tonight. Still have pain on 30 plus yard runs, but its getting better. Not near as fast as I was before the TKR. My OS says give it more time on the speed issue and the pain, but says I'm doing so good he will let me work tonite's game. Hope everyone is doing good. Keep working hard at your PT, it works. Thanks everyone for all the great infor. on this site.

Amazing!!!!

I wish you the best of luck. This site really has a wide span or recovering patients, from people who are happy to just walk without pain to athlete who intend to continue at professional levels. This surgery truly changes life's.

Congratulations!!!!

More proof of how quickly you can recover from a total knee arthroplasty if you are willing to commit to hard work in physical therapy. I am sure you will agree that it wasn't easy or pain-free.....but with dedication the results are will worth the effort. Congrats on achieving your goal of referring again.

Steve

That is a pretty amazing recovery. Glad your doc ok'd the running part. I thought that was a no no. Although after my hip , I have done a little running on trails.
Good luck tonite

I am in awe! Good on yer!

Great recovery!!!! What was your secret? I'm working hard, very hard at PT but I don't think I'll be able to run at 10 weeks....wait...I couldn't run 10 years ago, what was I thinking? I'm just too fat:hehe::hehe::hehe:. Anyways great job on the recovery, keep up the good job...very impressed.

Inspirational! I'm hoping to make my goal of being able to painlessly get to my seats (season tix, college football) all the way up to the top of the stadium...got two more weeks. Can't wait. Summer was a bust with this surgery, but really looking forward to the Fall!

Wow I have to say awesome post and your awesome for sharing. I never heard anyone running before and much less at 10 weeks you are my hero....lol.......Be careful but I have to say the same Im in awe!!!!!!!!!!!! congrats........

Great going! Hope tonight was everything you were hoping it would be and that you'll continue to improve and enjoy life!

Blessings,
Irene

Hope the game went well tonight. That's amazing that you were able to return to referring so soon! Remember to ice and elevate as tomorrow will probably be a little tough.

Blessings,

Rsmith....what great news! I know you've worked hard for this, but you are really doing well....TEN WEEKS!!! Man, at that point, I was still really in serious pain and working on ROM issues. Good for you!!!

We had a great game. The 2nd play of the game was a 89 yard run, I stepped in a drain hole in the truf and it hurt like you know what. I hopped on down to the goal line for the extra point. The longer the game went on the more the pain let up. By half time I was moving pretty good, I iced at half for 15 mins. When we went back out it took me about 10 mins. to get going. My crew just can not beleive I made it back so soon. I iced and elevate about 4 times Saturday and I went to the gym at 5:00 am this morning rode bike for 1 hr and lifted weights for about 45 mins. Feel great, I'll call OS about 11:45am to give him a update on the game and new knee. Its great to not have pain every step of day now. Thanks for everyones support on this site. Work hard to do what you want with your new knee or knees.

It sounds like you are right where you were hoping to be!!! Congrats Not everyone get it their dreams as fast as you did!!! It just shows what good hard work can do!!! I am so happy that everything worked out the way you wanted
!

Steve,

I think there are plenty of people who commit to "hard work in physical therapy" who still don't recover this fast. I am also an athlete and I have recovered quickly, but I don't think that everyone else has been working less hard.

I think that I had this surgery earlier rather than later in the process and that helps with recovery---I did not wait until I could barely move like some of the folks. In that, I was lucky. also, although I could loose a few pounds, I am not overweight and that helps also.

I am glad to see everyone recover--at any speed---but, some of the folks who work really hard, still do not recover quickly. Kelly

Thank you for the memories!!! HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY!
And I think it's awesome your back to doing what you love. And rather remarkable how quickly you have healed. Keep up the great work, and when your reffing,,,give them tail backs a break once in awhile, lol. After all football dealt to me,,I would do it all over again.Well,,maybe sit out the one play that changed my life forever, but all the rest I would do over:hehe:
Good luck and take care of yourself!
