Imagine my excitement to be able to start WALKING after 6 months of a NWB knee repair surgery! and then! Foot pain strikes. Orthopedist x-rayed - no broken bones. I am hoping this is only the foot readjusting to carrying weight but it has been nearly 3 months and I am a bit concerned. Any thoughts?

Most likely you are right about the foot adjusting to your starting to walk after your knee surgery.
Suggest you see some one to analyze your gait, a podiatrist, orthotist, pedorthist, or physical therapist.
Ask your OS if they have any recommendations.
If you have a good running shoe store in your area they may be able to help you pick out shoes and/or an off the shelf shoe insert that will better match how your foot moving on the ground.
