I've been reading about Supartz and Synvisc injections. Does anyone have experience with these products? My diagnosed problem is arthritis in the left knee.

Hi and welcome. I had a series of 5 in my right knee. I did not even notice any improvement until the 4th injection. I am thinking about doing them again. I had a scope a little while after the series so i figure it was all sucked out at that time.
Worth a try

I tried Supartz, but it really didn't do any good. The treatments are very expensive, so make sure your insurance will cover them if you decide to try it. I have heard that it can provide some temporary relief for some people. Your doctor can tell you if you are a good candidate for the shots or not. If you have severe damage, you probably won't get as much relief.

tbh, it's just putting off the inevitable.
They might give you some short term relief but in the end .......

I had a series of four or five (I can't remember exactly now) of Synvisc injections. It didn't help at all, although I do know someone who had them five years ago and is still going strong!

I had it done on both knees and my OS said he didn't know if I would get much relief but he would try. It did not help at all. But a friend of mine had it done and it worked for about a year then she had BTKR.

I had it done in both knees in April. They didn't work. Switched Drs. and was told I needed new knees 3 months later after I almost gave up.

I had Synvisc and it helped a tiny bit while walking but made it hurt a bit more while lying down. A couple years later I had Supartz and I don't think it did anything.

Hi welcome.......I have those as well they didnt work at all for me.....i ended up with the repl anyway soon after ..I felt nothing different at all.............im sorry .........

Hi, welcome to Bonesmart. I had Supartz injections. It was a last ditch effort that provided me no relief whatsoever.

I have met several people who got a great deal of relief from them, though.

One comment from my surgeon, that might or might not apply to you is, some insurance companies want you to try these injections before they approve a knee replacement.

My insurance company did not require that, but just something to think about.

Wishing you pain free knees-Kimberly

I had Synvisc injections. We were hoping it would give me 4 - months, I got a good 3 weeks out of it (it was timed to get me through a couple of vacations. Helped with the first vacation, nothing for the second :sigh:)
Like others, I know people who the injections work well for, one teacher at our school gets them a couple of times a year and has for about 2 years now, and they help her.
Only one way to find out what side you are on....
Good luck
