Had my LTKR on Oct 15 and feeling pretty good. Knee was sorer and stiffer today than has been but still got 114 ROM at physio today. PT really impressed at how well I am doing and I guess I am too. Even my hubby is noticing how much easier it is to bend my knee. I also made it all the way around on the exercise bike on Tues so was quite thrilled with that. I bit the bullet and booked a flight on Dec. 8 to head to our second home, which is a bungalow and also has a fitness centre and pool just calling for me to get down there. My flight is 2 hr and 45 min and I booked executive class with the reclining seats so hopefully all will be fine. I go to see my OS on Nov 23 for my 6 week check so sure hope he gives me the ok. I got rid of the crutches last week, yeah!!! and am just using the cane and sometimes forget to even use that. Could be why my knee hurts sometimes. Love reading all the posts, especially those of you who are at your 1 year anniversary and are doing everything again. Think we need lots of patience at my stage, not something I have a lot of, but have to keep reminding myself.:thmb:

Ice, exercise, stretch and rest are still my mottos for the next few weeks

That's sounds like a good plan - change of scene and a chill out! Don't forget to take ice on the journey!

Donna,
I think you will do just fine as long as you do Ice, stretch, and flex those ankles!!! Enjoy yourself.
It sound like a nice warm place to be!!!

Hi Donna that sounds SO AWESOME!! Have a great time, Remember to get up on the plane and stretch your legs if you can. DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) Is an Issue
that seems to be In the media a lot lateley.

hey Donna welcome i know patients is not a word for me either but its true gotta learn......lol......glad you joined us and i wish you the best in your recovery........

Donna, it sounds like a good plan and you've thought it through carefully. You are doing well in your recovery and the change of location should provide a mental boost.

Thanks for the replies - yes it seems I am doing pretty well. Went to the office for a couple of hours today - pretty sore - but can't let my hubby do it all. We are self employed so he has been doing everthing for the past month - figure it's time for me to step back in and besides that I'm getting bored hanging around and then I head out and my knee starts hurting again. It was really stiff yesterday, so did a lot of bending and stretching and it seems better today.

Still on percocet every 4-6 hrs, tried some tramacet for one dose when I was getting low on the percocet and it didn't do anything to help the pain. Guess I just need to go with the flow and keep taking what works. Just worry about being on the percocet for too long and don't want to get addicted to it.

4 weeks and you're back at work? You guys really floor me! How do you expect your body to recover when you're using all your energy going to work?

REST for pity's sake! Rest, ice, rest, exercises, rest and then rest some more. Yes, recovery is boring but very necessary.

Hi Jo,

Thanks for the advice, I don't overwork at all, just go to the office for a couple of hours, back and forth to the copier. then home and rest, etc., etc. I certainly watch it and know how much I have to take care of myself.

Doing a bit of work takes the mind off of it all. I can actually do a lot from my lap top on my bed, which is pretty good.

Just want to take less of or get off of the Percocet, but certainly can't do that right now. I can go 6-7 hrs in the night but in the day need them about every 4 - 5 hours. I'm just using the cane and sometimes not even that around the house, so imagine that could be part of the pain in the day.

Thanks again,

Oh - ok. Guess some of you folk need to get out of the house sometimes, eh?
