hello everyone.
yes i finally made it. i have veronica in full gear on the right side. os said i cant see it till my two week follow up. the usual 11/2 hour surgery was 4 hours. all the previous reconstruction ended up being a challenge. They built me a new acetabulum and said that the head of the femur was actually only the size of a jaged shaped thimble all the muscles had contracted up around it so he had to release the muscles to get to the capsule. ok so after all that he replaced the entire 1 and 1/2 inches lld. except 1mm. i couldnt have asked for more. had a little nerve pain but i think that was more because the spinal failed. felt like they had the paddles on my right leg when he went in shocked it so hard. ended up with general so i lost most of tuesday but i hear i was very pleasant. lol.
the recovery started i'm on day four. i can do weight bearing as tolerated, i'm on a walker walking 300-400 feet at a time already started on the heel toe. my tiny little home town hospital had excellent care and the pt was fantastic. ot has me completly independant. in and out of the bed on my own in and out of the shower. a little achy but nothing i cant handle. starting to alternate motrin with the pain meds. haven had injections since the first day post op. i can dress myself and even spending time playing with the baby. got plenty of family here dh has been a doll. he's afraid i'm doing too much too fast. pt says i'm where i should be by two weeks.
when my os came in this morning. you know he's been apprehensive about weather i was ready for all this. i told him "i can show you better then i can tell you " i threw off the covers and said look i raised my leg up and did an external rotation of 30 degrees and then lowered it back down then i showed him my pre op pic of my external rotation i said look how pretty and straight my leg is all nice and alligned toes pointing up. i got out of bed and said watch this and walked on my walker around the room. i said look at my shoulders how even they are i dont walk as bad now as i did before. he was smiling and laughing telling me how well i was doing for 4 days. i am so pleased. he underestimated me and thats ok i always knew what i was capable of . so were having a cook out. i'm going to go take it easy and ice up. just wanted to let yall know. thanks for being there.
