Hey guys, just a note. Fell down about five days ago. Hard fall on left knee and left hip, no bruises, surprise, surprise, but still stiff on that side and still have some pain. Bad spasms in neck and back, when it rains it pours i suppose. Then last night my husband came home and his knees are killing him. Pain is on the outside below the knee cap but like i said on the outside of the leg. Gave him a pain pill, a muscle relaxer, iced it down good and put him to bed early. Hopefully he will lose some of the holiday weight he has put on and it will get to feeling better and stay that way. Know from x-rays done a few years back he has arthritis in both knees, just don't want to see him have to go through what we have all had to go through if i can possibly stop it which means helping him lose weight by cooking low fat and low calorie and exercise. Keep him in you prayers and send lots of good thoughts this way. Thanks in advance, you all area a blessing. Rowdy

Rowdy,
So sorry to hear about the fall. I'm so sensitive to any bumps on the new knee.
Sounds like your hubby is in good hands. Unless of course you gave him the pill and put him to bed so you can have a quiet evening...uh huh...

Hi Rowdy,
Ahhh the dreaded fall..I , too, took a tumble down a friends stairs (combo of bare feet, slippy carpet and maybe 1/2 a glass of wine too many) what a scare! Then again when we were at the Steelers/Giants football game, we were walking back to our vehicle and had to go over a guard-rail. I thought I could clear it and my hubby said to wait for him to help....I am too stubborn and too independent, I'm not an invalid , right??!! Well , my bad leg got stuck , guess I don't have the ROM I thought I had and the next thing I knew there were 3 strange men picking me up.... I was bruised, scared and more than a bit embarrased.... especially w/hubby giving me the evil eye... but once I dusted myself off and started to walk again, I thought how stupid was that??!! I think it's good in a way to know that we can take a fall but better to know that we are not invincible. BE CAREFUL!! And your husband will have many prayers tonight. I hope he's up and about tomorrow pain-free. I'm sending good thoughts your way!!

Rowdy, so sorry to hear about your fall. Take more water with it..LOL.. Hope you are recovering well. Sorry to hear about your hubby. Hope he is feeling better in the morning.Know what you mean about the extra weight not helping. Kevin and I are both startibng a healthy eating program again on Monday Have put a lot of weight on since getting off the Percs. Chocolate took over!!

Rowdy.....I'm so sorry to hear you took a fall. I hope this post finds you feeling normal again. I guess we all have something like that happen eventually, but it is frightening until you find out all your parts are okay still!!! Hooray!!! I hope your hubby feels better soon too!

Glad you've 'bounced back' from your fall, Rowdy!

Hi Rowdy,

Sorry to hear about your fall. Has there been any changes since your last post? That must have been very scary. I hope that you are okay.

Now your husband is a different sort. I'm not sure why us males are so willing to live in the negative denial that most of us apparently do.

Maybe you should encourage him to send us a post, maybe stating his goals for avoiding what we all have been through. I know, I for one, would be more then willing to give him support. You really can't do it alone, even though sometimes we delude ourselves into believing that we can.

Hang in there and good luck.

Bennet

Rowdy,
So sorry about the fall and having your hubby in pain. I hope you both are feelling better.
I did something stupid trying to pick somthing way out of reach up and did something to my lower back . I know just how you feel.
Hope your neck is better, I can relate to that one too.
Prayers coming your way.
Judy

Rowdy,
Hope you and your hubby are feeling better today. You two be careful.
Like others have posted, falling down is my biggest worry. What is the best way to get yourself up after a fall, especially if you are home alone?

Not that I don't have help at home, but I like to be prepared.
I am doing so much better now that I am three weeks post surgery. My knee is feeling stronger and less painful. Also the swelling has gone down quite a bit. I am still icing and taking pain meds about every 8 hours now.

Well, I am off to my CPM machine. I'll be glad when I am done with that.
I know it's good for me, but it's not very comfy on my calf and lower hip.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks to all, i am on the mend, my ego only slightly bruised. Amazing how resilient our new joints really are, huh? Jammed my shoulder and screwed up my neck and lower back more than anything but have been dealing with those things for over 20 years so no new injury just aggravation and as they say, this too shall pass.

As for hubby, hector is listening and acting accordingly. He is determined to lose weight and so he will. He is just that kind of person. Once he says he is going to do something you can count on him following through plus he has had a front row seat to all i went through and that alone will keep him on the straight and narrow getting the weight off and doing the exercises. In the meantime he is doing light duty at work but even then has more stairs to deal with than i would like but he works in the oldest unit in the state, none of the modern amenities, everything done the hard way which he ordinarily likes as it allows for more exercise and activity a day. He is not one to sit back and let others do while he directs.

You all are, once again, great and i do appreciate it so very much. Thank you. Rowdy

Whoooo Hoooo, Rowdy! Great news!!! Tell your hubby we're with him in spirit!!!

Hey Rowdy, sorry you went down and glad to hear you are mending. I was wondering where you were New Years eve. Stay well.
