Hello,

I am 9 weeks and 2 days post-op...LTHR. I am doing well; still a little knee pain.

I have become quite active again, have even played a few full court basketball games.

The last couple of weeks, I have felt a slight "catch" or "click" (not audible) in the joint when I walk...not all the time but I am a bit concerned.

I have a doc appt on Aug 7 and will talk to him about it but wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

BTW, I highly recommend Dr. Bryan Springer at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte NC!

Thanks,
Rob

Hey Rob,
Sounds like you are doing quite a bit at 9 weeks. I was just starting at our PT gym by then but you have to realize, I was totally out of shape before my Lft THR.
Josephine, our resident nurse will be able to help you. Just hope everything will be o.k.....Keep us posted....Patty

Heya Morris.

I got the same thing happen to me, it will only last for about 3-4 weeks.

You have tendons hitting against the hip replacement, like elastic.

It is 100% Fine, a doctor, physiotheropist, surgeon will tell you the same thing.

it feels awkward, i know....And if you put your hand on the hip..you can actually feel it snapping.

There is no harm to be done, maybe tone down activity a little bit, but other than that...Nothing to be worried about bud.

Hope that helps.

These things do occur. As I famously said elsewhere once "it's just your body getting to know your new implant"!

Thanks for the replies! Very helpful, eases my mind. I probably should not have used the word "catch". It feels exactly like what you describe YoungGuy. I AM going to lay off basketball at least until my appointment with my surgeon on Aug 7. I played at least 3 days a week the past 3 weeks! I started feeling the "catch" before I played basketball so I never did think that was the cause but will stick to lower impact activity until I talk to the doctor.

BTW, my username has struck again, I have been referred to as Morris by 2 people now. :) It is r norris, not morris (Rob). :)

Thanks again,
Rob

Hey Rob,
I started feeling that sensation a week or 2 ago. I am glad to hear what it is. I am now 6 weeks post op. I know it is hard to slow down once you are able to do things again.
