Discomfort is OK, but pain is bad.
It's a warning from your new knee that you're doing too much for it. If you persist with painful exercises, your wounded soft tissues will become angry and inflamed. That could slow down your recovery.
Yes, you do need to keep your new knee moving, but do it gently. Initially, just walking around your house will be enough to do that.
