YO! Gang,

Well the end of the week PT wasn't all that bad. I couldn't get the bike wheel to go round and round but did improve my ROM. The RTKR is at o-110 degree
and the bad LTKR made it to 0-91 degree. I plan on working the left one out this weekend and pray I can get the bike petals to turn over this coming monday. Please wish me luck!

God Bless,
Rick

Re: End od week PT.

You are doing well....

It is very exciting that first time you get the bike pedals all the way around! You'll get there soon:)

Good luck wishes coming your way!

Rick

Way to go. You sound like me with 1 cooperative knee and 1 with it's own mine. On the good knee it took me 2 months to get to 110 and now at 3 1/2 months is at 0-117. Now the right one was stuck at -10 to 104 for a very very long time and finally in the last few weeks we are making more than 1/2 a degree of progress and are at -5 to 112. I do work the right one more but don't forget the other one. The imbalance even causes problems on the bike as on the right I get ankle pain as I seem to pull my toes back in order to get the pedal to go around as the right knee is still tight as well as I still have an nonunion foot fracture on that side. Given the preop contracture on the right I don't think we will hit 0 but it sure is better (right after surgery it was around -18 and I could only get my toes on the ground).

Keep going those wheels will turn and the seat will come down.

Rick!
Sending you the infamous Alaskan Happy Dance for your progress! Keep going - I remember the day we got the pedal all the way around - The small things in life. Now I can get it around but I still sort of have my rump coming off the seat. It does seem to get a tad bit less noticable each pt session. Hopefully I will soon be chanting "the wheels on the bike go round and round, round and round, round and round....." instead of ugh each time the knee has to bend to push that pedal around.

Congrats!
Marianne

Marianne,

Thanks for the encouragement! I have been working it in the CPM today and plan on another six (6) hours tomorrow. I promise Kim my PT that I was going to get that wheel to go around and around come Monday.

Rick -
Its was funny when mine went around the first time - it was actually the Receptionist/Office Manager who helped me figure it out. She had me slide my good knee's foot slightly out of the pedal - instead of being in there evenly we dropped the heal further down and then with the seat all the way back (I am tall) it went around! - The we tried backward - which was easier at first. Then the pts joined in the "excitement" . We all just sort of laughed!

It will go!!! Keep CPMing - come next week I will be JASing with you!

Marianne!
