I had a left knee replacement done 12/01/08 and I'm so glad I did. I was one of the lucky ones and recovery wasn't too difficult. I haven't been very active for years due to the pain, but I will be making a trip to Disneyworld with my daughter, son in law and three year old grandaughter in September. I decided I better get into training so I can walk the 4 miles a day they say the average guest walks per day. First day out, I walked 1.2 miles with no pain. Next day out, 2.4 miles again with little pain. I know this may not sound like much to some of you, but believe me this is a major accomplishment for me. Plus, I'm actually looking forward to reaching that four mile mark and maybe more. So those of you early in the process, keep working and it is definitely worth it.

Excellent recovery! Isn't it the BEST? I'm a little behind you.....and life is wonderful again!!! :)

Before my injury, it didn't sound like much. But after my surgery, I know it is way more than I can currently do. Time is the greatest healer. Too bad, I'm impatient!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi Barbara thank you so so much for posting. I love hearing from others that are that far out because it helps us to know that we can as well. Im sure you will enjoy Disneyland with your new knee. Thanks again so much.....I know you will reach your 4 mile goal......Hopefully I will be posting in a yr with the same results....No I know I will..........Thank you.........

Belldawg, Welcome to the forum. What a fabulous goal you have going there! And I KNOW you'll make it. Disney World is such a fun place, it would be sad not to be able to walk everywhere you wanted to go when you go there. Hubby and I LOVED it (no kids, just us). It sounds like you have done a great job in recovery. I'm so proud of you!!!

Please let us know how you get along. As you can tell, our BoneSmart family loves to read these good stories.
