When I was at my 1 yr check-up a couple of weeks ago, I asked my OS about my scar. About 2/3's of it was quite red. He suggested part of that was hematoma and scar tissue. He suggested I massage it with emu oil which I could get at any health food store. He said emu oil was a natural anti-inflammatory and would help the scar tissue as well.
I had tried Vitamin E and a product called Bio-Oil early on but didn't see much difference. Anyway I thought it was worth the $15 for a small bottle to try the emu oil.
I can't believe the difference in the appearance of the scar in 2 weeks use. It may partially be because I can now really massage the scar without pain. I Googled emu oil and was surprised at all the claims made of it. I also searched this forum for any references to emu oil but didn't find any, so I hope I am not passing on something that has already been commented on.
For your reference I am including a link to the benefits of this stuff.
