Hi Everyone,

For those who remember, this is the Nick who was posting earlier this year. A question: I was quite ill, and not really knowing what was happening, and the nurse injected diazipam (valium) into the area close to my THR. Since that day it hurts quite a lot to walk - and the pain is exactly on the greater trochanter - whereas up until then I was having no pain at-all. does anyone know if there is a connection? I'm hoping time and exercise will work its blessings, but don't know, and would like to....
Enjoy it all
Nick

I have had cortisone injections but haven't heard of diazepam.......Im sure someone will know especially Jo or Jamie...Good Luck I hope you feel better soon........)

Well, that's the customary place to give an intramuscular injection. But why were you ill? And when? Why did you need diazepam? Did she actually strike the bone when she injected?

More info would help, Nick.

Hi Josephine,

well, to be as brief as possible, in April I had a herpes attack to my left eye, which caused about 50% blindness, and postherpetic neuralgia, which is not nice. and then, lo and behold, on September the 8th I went totally blind in my other, right, eye - an occluded artery. No cure. The first couple of weeks were fine, then I panicked, completely lost the plot, ended up in the local clinic, and had the diazipam injection - too out of it to realise it should have been in the other buttock.

I'm back in balance now, and enjoying life more or less as usual - the one seeing eye is fine, and it's getting better vision weekly. But five minutes of walking and a lot of pain, and before the injection, none - and no, she didn't hit the bone, I'm sure I would have felt that.

I walk between one and two miles a day, hoping that this will help, but so far the pain remains about 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Any thoughts gratefully received. And, despite it all, I can say without a doubt that life is very beautiful.

enjoy it all,

Nick

Oh wow so sorry you are going through all this. I do hope your good eye will continure to improve and all will always be good with it.

Ow - that sounds nasty!

But I think the problem was just a badly given jab whilst you were restless. Those can take a while to ease out but is nothing to do with your THR.

Nick, I have thought about you often. So sorry that the reason you haven't been on the forum for a while was because of all this! I miss you here....your posts are always so fun and full of joy. Even with what's happened, you put a positive spin on it. You are one great inspiration and I hope you can continue to post now and then.
I love hearing about your travels!!!
