Hi Josephine and every one. I am writing from the Hospital. Just got out of ICU night before last. :( Now waiting for my Cumadin levels to reach the right numbers so I can get out of here! I don't do stay still very well.
Turned out that I had a blood clot from below my knee to my vena cava. No family history of Clotting disorders, non smoker, no birth control meds. Who knew. Turns out I May Thurners syndrome. They got rid of the clot and put in two stints (so I don't have a repeat performance). They have restricted my exercise (no more resistance training for a while). So I am left with Hydro therapy and isometrics and trying to walk longer distances with crutches.
Here is the BIG question do you think this is going to affect my surgery date of Aug 12th? I know it is up to my OS but before I get out here to ask I thought I would ask see what ya think?

one very bummed,
Donna

did a search for May-Thurner's syndrome and came up with a power point presentation in this link which you can look at yourself but is very medical orientated.

But this image shows how it happens

The information I have obtained thus far is that this only effect the left leg so the right shouldn't be affected by the tourniquet and such. However, realistically, only your surgeon can give you the definite on that.
