First off let me start by saying these forums are full of information. I originally posted on here looking for some kind of pain relief ( Tylenol, Meloxicam, etc ) and while the suggestions helped, surgery was the winner! A little about me:
I am a 45 yr old athlete heavily involved in lacrosse. I've played since I was in 7th grade and haven't stopped since ( although I have slowed because of my hip ). In fairly good shape and stay active. I saw 4 orthopedic specialists and the 1st said I had the hips of a 90 year old. I laughed and moved on. My ignorance caught up with me as the next 3 said the same. My right hip has severe OA and my left hip is on its way out. I had an MRI last week. No tissue or ligament tear damage but there are some cysts on the femoral head, which he expected. I can move around but I have a slight limp. I saw my surgeon at Stony Brook University and he not only indicated he can get me back playing but he would be using a Dual Mobility Implant. I was beside myself because I truly thought I would not be able to play again but this is all he does and has been doing it for a long time so my faith is in him. I research it as much as I can and I am aware that with any hip replacement comes the recovery.
I wanted to know if any of you can share your recovery experiences if you have had a dual mobility hip done. I know everyone is different, but to hear some post op recovery would be awesome. Did you walk the same day? What does it feel like lol I think I am just overly excited and optimistic about the process.
Thanks for everyone reading and I hope all of you are staying safe during this time!
