What is the general rule about resuming driving after surgery? Is it a shorter time frame if it's your left knee? I am trying to map out help with family and friends and going to PT.:pzld:

My Dr said 6-8 weeks, but it depends on you..Some drive earlier..Just be careful. If you have the helpl I would take it for awhile...After PT in the begining is a lil tough, so I would take the ride. Take your pain medicine to !!!!!!Good Luck, stay safe...

You definitely should not be driving as long as you are on prescription pain meds. And that can be a long time or a short time...everyone is different in their healing. For planning purposes, you might want to arrange for 6-8 weeks of not driving. You have to be able to react quickly in the event of emergency and to not be under the influence of drugs.
