I have a dilemma, a good dilemma, but one none the less. I have found two great Drs and can't decide which one to use. Have any of you had this issue? Both are well known but their approach is different. One is older and actually trained the other when he was going through his development. Any helpful advice on making a selection?

How is their approach different? One use anterior and the other posterior? It does not matter IIRC but experience in whatever approach they do does matter.
I think I am confused by the question as I am envisioning the mentor training the mentee( if that is a word) in the approach he uses most often.

I suggest you choose the doctor you most feel comfortable with. Your gut will let you know.

St. John's Regional Hospital in Oxnard has the highest rating locally for successful hip replacement s. If one of the two surgeons operates there, that is the one I'd choose.
Otherwise, Google/ search for web sites that have hospital ratings for the procedure.
