Hello All,

I am 7 wks out post op for a rt. TKA. Have almost reached my preop rom.....125 flex and 1 extension. Have weaned to one Percocet at bedtime.

Problem: Can't get comfortable, some spasm, toss and turn. Lucky to get 3 periods of 1 to 2 hrs sleep per night. Any/all suggestions. Have seen similar problems on this page from others.

Thanks, Tom

Time.
Other than that, sleep aids, natural or not. I had good results with 1 or 2 tylenol or Advil pms

Tom, we all had sleep problems at one time or another, mine were about 7 weeks out. I used a natural, Sleep MD. I found it worked well, relaxing me after about 15 mins. I also used a body pillow, still do some nights, drape your leg over it if you are a side sleeper. It gives more support than a short pillow.

Good luck, time will help as Jenn say's. Good to see you posting Jenn, hope you are well. Sue

I am right there with you Tom. We can count sheep together. My dog woke me up last night. If its not the knee its the dog. Oh well guess that's all part of it. It will get better. I HOPE!!!! Not like I can't take a 10 min. power nap in the afternoon. I too use Tylenol PM and it does help.

You're under medicated! Be kind to yourself and take two Percocets at bedtime or maybe one and an iboprufen. Whatever, you need your sleep and the reason you're not getting any is because you're in PAIN!

Tom, Have you returned to your regular schedule? Meaning do you work and have to get up on a regular schedule? I have to get up at 4:40 AM and returning to my regular routine has forced me to sleep at night because I can't sleep during the day. I do okay on six hours of sleep but would prefer more, much more........ It'll come. Those muscles just need some more time to recover.

I am six weeks out and finally called my family doc TODAY about the sleep problem. I had tried otc sleep aids but the didn't work. I still take perocet at night but that doesnt really help with sleep anymore. She prescibed ambien and I have just taken my first dose. I am hoping this will help back to my more normal schedule! I will let you know.

Annette, my OS said to add 2 Motrins to the Perc tab for sleep. They supposedly work together. I tried it the last 2 nights and that seems to help. Only problem I have now is that I woke up yesterday with chest and back pains and it hurts to take a deep breatch. Doc said it sounds like I pulled a muscle somehow in my sleep. Guess I was sleeping pretty sound for that to happen. It is better today but it seems that there is always something new to come up. Start back to work on Monday for 1/2 days. Will see how that goes.
