Am I the only one here that named my new knee? Don't ask me why, but at about two weeks the name "Stella" kept popping into my head whenever I talked about my knee, so I just started called it Stella. Kinda like she named herself.

I still call it Stella. And now I'm wondering what my new knee will name itself?

Yup, this has all driven me 'round the bend! :)

And this happened without the aid of mind-altering drugs. Yep, Weezy.....you're definitely there! LOL Give Stella a hug for me!!!

You run the risk that at about 6 months you'll forget about Stella. She will get very depressed and begin to think that unless she becomes a pain you won't pay any attention to her anymore.

I called my knee a bunch of names but none that I should post!!

Weezy,
From now on everytime I see you name I will
I keep seeing Marlon Brando yelling STELLA!!!
^i^

Weezy -
I love your knee's name - Stella is definitely original. I am right there with Doug. I have called this knee a lot of things but nothing I can repeat here! I have since stopped which must mean I am spending a lot less time thinking about it -hmmmm.... could life be starting to return to normal finall???? I think so!

Say Hi to Stella from Alaska!

How cute! Always called my all my cars Lucy (why???) but never thought about naming a prosthesis! Think I'll just call mine 'knee'!

After I'd had my bilaterals my husband one day called them my Metal Mickeys and they've been that ever since. I suppose technically they should now be Metal Mickey 1 (right knee) and Metal Mickey 4 (left kneee)!
I got a funny look at the airport once when I 'beeped' going through the security machine and I said without thinking "Oh that'll be my Metal Mickeys". I then had to show the security bod the scars to prove I wasn't completely insane! Linda x

I LOVE that name.....Metal Mickeys!!! How fun! We will be flying for the first time with my new knee on Feb. 13th, so I'll be interested to see how the airline check-in goes.

Kim,
I love it that is my nickname. Grandbabies say I am going to be
the Bionic Granny!! LOL I just love them to pieces!

OK...I guess I am weird, but I did name my new knee. I've mentioned this somewhere else on this site and nobody came to lock me up, so I guess I'll explain it again. Post surgery I was awake most nights. An old situation comedy was always on at 3:00 A.M. and I began to look forward to it. It was called Coach and there was a character who was big and dumb and not very good looking, but he was very strong and did his job. The actor who played this part is named Bill Fagerbakke so I started calling my knee Bill. When I went back to work teaching 8th grade, I told my kids and then they knew I was weird....something they had suspected for some time. Oh well..life is too short to be boring. I love the name Stella. It's classy.

Doug I felt like you........my knee names are unprintable as I really had nothing nice to say about them at first...-- Carol

ha ha carol that made me laugh and cheered me up... mine is bionic woman for me after breaking so many bones etc in the last four years.... but will have to think of a name for my knee now that'll keep me busy for today!

I love this name-the-knee idea! And I, too, love Metal Mickeys although Stella always did come to Rocky's rescue. I think for now that my knee will be Frankie as I'm reminded of Frankenstein when I look at the staples. Does that make me, Bride of.....?

Why not sell naming rights to offset healthcare costs:

Ed's Coors Knee
Doug's Conseco Prosthesis
Gretchen US Cellular
....

I'm thinking in this financial crisis knees are probably a lot cheaper for
companies than stadia.

I haven't named the knees but I remember telling my earlier OS (this was in the 70's and 80's when I had 9 surgies) that I must have paid for the hubcabs on his Roll Royce by now. He was British.
