Ah, the cry of all those smitten with arthritic joints!I wish that I could just wake up one morning and be pain free and that this problem would just “go away”.
Those surgeons that say that need to be ditched fairly promptly and another one sourced. There are surgeons out there who will be more sympathetic to people who have less years and more pounds.I have been to several orthopedic surgeons. A lot of them said that I’m too young or that my arthritis isn’t that bad yet to need a knee replacement.
During my many years in the 'trade', I have lost count of the number of patients who presented with horrendous knees on xray and yet declared very little pain. Also otherwise, had almost normal xrays and yet were practically confined to a wheelchair. It happens all the time! But sensible and experienced surgeons will make their decision for surgery based on the degree of pain and disability, not the xrays.While the x-rays show BOB I have little pain.
