Revision THR Continuing left hip pain

Mixed blessing to get an all clear from the MRI. The MRI on mine when I was having psoas issues was worthless because the metal artifacts (even with a protocol to reduce them) made seeing the area around the psoas tendon impossible to really see.
For me, an injection into the psoas tendon was what finally confirmed my self-diagnosis of a psoas impingement (it was rubbing against the rough edges of the acetabular implant.
Every time I had an MRI, I got a referral to a gyno for ultrasound because of a large cyst - not as the possible source of the pain since it was on the other side, but to confirm whether anything needed to be done for other health reasons.
These issues with the "soft bits" can be so difficult to get a diagnosis. In my case, I had to continue researching both the possible issues but also the doctors that might have a solution. Your mantra needs to be "There is an answer. I will find it. I will keep pushing until I can finally get it validated and the issue fixed."
Best to you and hope they find the solution soon. I know how wearing it can be physically and mentally to go through this for so long. Know that there are others that have trod this path before and are here to provide support. You are not crazy and you are not alone!

ebair23 You have had such a hard journey it isn't fair you have had to experience such pain. I am hoping that they find out what is causing all this pain but more importantly find out and correct it. Don't stop til you are pain-free even if it means finding someone else somewhere else. No one should endure this. I hope you will post the outcome here. Thinking the best for you.

:praying:
My lab work showed that I need to take vitamin D and calcium and I need to eat more salt and eat more in general.
Great news...this I can fix. Dairy Queen peanut buster parfait...Vitamin D and Calcium...salty peanuts and NOT hard to eat.

Keep the faith my friend.

I am so sorry that you still don’t have clear answers to explain your pain. You have been through so very much. I hope these next tests rule out all serious reasons.

 Vitamin D3 is much better to absorb through sensible sun exposure. Mine was crazy low, it’s rebounding now with summer sunshine. Without D, a body can’t absorb calcium.

Will be thinking of you and praying you get relief soon. @ebair23 ❤️

Well....... X-rays show nothing substantial. :gaah:

Great news....but now what? I certainly understand your frustration.
Prayers for an answer. :praying: This has to be maddening.
Wishing for your comfort.
@ebair23

@ebair23 you have been through so much. Do not despair. Your body needs time to acclimate to all it has been through. It simply may take more time. I know that's not an answer and it's open ended to boot. Just be kind to yourself. :friends:

Hello all. I just got back from yet another doctor. This one, though, is a specialist in revisions. He is ordering a CT scan, a bone scan, and an injection. After he make sure I don’t have any sort of infection in my bone, we may have to go ahead and get another surgery. I am just so happy that he believes me and actually sees somethings of that the other doctors didn’t. Looks like my bone and component haven’t grown together like they’re supposed to.Thank you all for your good wishes. Hopefully this will end soon and I’ll feel a lot better.

Wonderful! So happy and excited for you!!! Hopefully this saga will end and you will get on with your life!

Looks like my bone and component haven’t grown together like they’re supposed to.
I AM grateful they are "getting it" but am sorry it looks like you have another surgery probably looming.
Let's get this hip show on the road.
You deserve to be out of pain and get your life back.

@ebair23 Thank goodness for the specialty surgeons/doctors. That sounds most hopeful.
As Mojo333 said, you deserve to be out of pain! It's been much too long.

Thank goodness you may finally be on to something, rather than repeatedly hitting dead ends.
I'm sure surgery doesn't sound appealing, but hopefully it will get you on the road to leading a normal life again. We'll be here to support you through it all.
Prayers an end to your pain is in sight. :prayer:
@ebair23

I'm not generally happy to hear that someone has something wrong that requires surgery, but I'm so glad you feel you're on the road to getting this done! There is something liberating and exhilarating to know you've found the right path to lead you out of the forest. Good luck!

UPDATE!

Ok, so, after multiple Doctors I finally have an answer. Seems to be I am a part of the 1% who’s bone never grew to the replacement. I am waiting for the office to call and schedule my appointment, but looks to be I will be going under the knife again and will be having revision surgery. Not happy with having to have another surgery, but, now I know what’s up and hopefully will feel better soon. Thank you all for being here for me and listening to my ordeal.

Well glad that they have found the problem but sorry you have to have another op… I assume the bone wasn't cemented? All the best to you and hope that the revision gives you a much better outcome.

:sigh: Oh my stars @ebair23
Somewhat disappointed for you, but you KNEW something was not right and the ongoing pain simply isn't a sustainable situation.
I'm sure you had to be like "I knew it" but then, :censored:
You know we will be glad to see you finally get a permanent fix.
Please let us know when your revision will be.
Hugsxxxx:loveshwr:

@ebair23 Well done on being persistent! Yes, this happens but not often. I assume you will get a cemented prosthesis during the revision? Please let us know how your appointment goes.

Like others, I'm sorry you have to go through this all over again but glad to know they've found the answer finally. You'd have thought they'd have looked at this somewhere along the road by now!

I look forward to you joining the "hip, what hip" club!
