I had a left TKR August 5th. Three weeks ago I started playing ice hockey. Felt ok at first then stepped it up to three days a week. My knee cap is now killing me. I believe I had a resurfacing with no button. I can hardley get up and down stairs and sleeping is difficult. Will this pain go away? or did I permanetly injure myself. There was no trama, just use.

I would bet that you just overdid it, but if your pain continues or gets to the point that it is really significant, it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with your surgeon just to check things out. Be prepared for a lecture, though....he/she might think that ice hockey after 3 months is pushing things.... Just be sure to take care of yourself!!!

Hey, Verno, you must be a real jock to be back out on the ice so soon after this surgery. I would call the OS if I were you and see what he says but I rather imagine that if you go back to resting, elevating, and icing you will be fine. Sounds like you just overdid it in a significant way. Good luck, Rowdy

Wow, I'm impressed..and I dither about whether I should kneel...or get up on my own from the floor. Guess I better call and renew my pro soccer contract!

Well, Vern, that'll teach you! Now I suggest you ice your tendonitis, take some NSAIDs and REST for at least a week if not more!
