I'm sitting here 3.5 weeks post op and everything is going well except I sometimes feel like all the rest of the joints in my body sort of said "he chopped off our buddy knee, lets go on a sympathy strike". Its getting to the point where my surgical knee is the least of my pains. Seems every afternoon I get this low grade fever (99.9) and I get real cold and just have to lay around and be achy. I'm trying to figure out if its surgery related or I have some kind of other viral thing going on.

Is this just overdoing exercise?

Did anyone else have something like this.

If you're still on a blood thinner....THAT makes you SO cold (I loved it!!!...kept my hotflashes at bay)....SHUG - you're at 3.5 weeks.....you SHOULD still be hurting (unless you're an alien! - we DO have a few aliens among us).....patience is a virtue~!

boy...that was a lot of help, huh???

But very on point, Patti. Nowt for me to add now!

Actually the blood thinner tip was a help. Yes I've got 4 more days of coumadin.
I expected my surgical knee to hurt, but yesterday I did something to my shoulder
while sleeping which felt like when I separated it years ago. Today its better but
my right calf is hurting.

edk,
I know your frustration. You need to remember you have just had very invasive surgery. Look at the "you tube" video of the surgery.. You are supposed to hurt. Your whole body is adjusting to the knew knee. I had a bad bow in my leg prior to surgery. Afterwards, it is straight. My body had to get used to the re-alignment.
We've had a couple of "super humans" on here and I'm envious of their recovery. But, as I have learned, we all recover at different rates...Gatiger, a couple of months ago, compared recovery to the stock market. Up and down. Good days and bad days.
I'm at 12 weeks today..Great workout this a.m., house work. Now I'm hurting. I'll ice it for a while, get up and go some more..
Hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Actually I was amazed by how much what I posted was similar to what TKR12208 posted in Doctor Milestones. She talked about going back to work and everything was fine until sometime in the afternoon she sort of hit the wall and everything started to hurt and she had no energy. I'm figuring that my energy reserves are just a tad bit lower than hers because she's had 8 weeks more of healing. I just wish there was something better on afternoon TV.

edk....I'm with Doug. I had similar things going on when I was at the recovery stage where you are....around 3 weeks....including the fever. I was so worried about infection, I took my temperature a couple of times a day. It only got to 100 one time and didn't stay there long, so I guess it is just your body working up a bit of a sweat healing itself.

You guys!

If you'all aren't careful I shall hit you with a 1,000 words mini lecture on the effects on the body of major healing processes. Then you'll be sorry!

Ohhhhh noooooo, Jose......not THE TALK!!! Please.....anything but that! We promise to be better. Honest!!!

Yeah Jo, we had the lecture and actually, Patti needs it again....just sayin.
(got cha).

I tried to do that but got my a cramp in my lip..Gettin old.

ice it!
Dougie...how do you like being our new baby sister?? Is there anything you'd like to ask me?? Are boys starting to notice you??

You're so easy to mess with! If we'd have gone to highschool together, we would have gotten into SERIOUS trouble!!...

Oh I can just see us in high school. I got sent to the office often enough. Unfortunately for me the head football coach was the school disciplinarian. He not only gave me three whacks with the paddle, I had to run stadiums after practice.
You would have gotten me beat to death...cause girls can tell hormonal teenage boys, "go play in traffic and I'll give you a kiss". The guy will go stand in the middle of the street.

Somehow I'm thinking Patti might have worn that trick out with you in High School, Doug. You're right....I had forgotten how gullible boys were way back when. Are they still that way these days? I know the girls are certainly a LOT more aggressive in many cases. That's a whole NEW problem. Glad I don't have teenagers in the house....just at our daughter's.....grandkids, whew!

Boys will be gullible as long as there are girls... And talk about aggressive girls, I had no idea of the cultural change in that area until my son hit middle school.
We have been having more "father and son" talks just this past month. Up until yesterday, he has had many male and female friends. Yesterday evening, the family had to go shopping because his pants suddenly became too short. While his mother was getting a drink, he announced to me that he now has a girlfriend.. I pretty much said,"cool, who is it?". It is a girl he has known since 1st grade. I didn't make a big deal of it. Last night I laid down with him to find out just what "girlfriend" and "dating" ment to 8th graders. Turned out she ask him to be her boyfriend..It really doesn't mean a whole lot. Apparently it is mostly for school gossip purposes.
He said he would tell his mother about it today while they are on a school trip..I thought, good, I'm not going to be around for this one. My wife isn't going to like this one.

EDK, which I'd seen your comments yesterday...I added a post to the Doctor Milestones earlier this evening...a humdinger of a day it was yesterday, so no chance to go online to catch up on posts! Read my other posts there...at least at 3.5 weeks, you have a great site to go to...I didn't find this site until just a few short weeks ago (maybe 4?) and I was so glad to learn that at least I'm not alone in my experiences. I still have the body aches, low energy and, oh yes, I'd forgotten to mention the chills in my other post. Quite an adventure we're having. All the best to you and be encouraged, you're not alone!

Now you've got my attention. I was nervous about the blood-thinner (injection type), but if helps the hot flashes, I'm on board!
