Sorry you're hurtin' Beach. So, you don't want to get "put out" to avoid saying foolish things under the influnce?

Well, Gat has a point.... I couldn't be held responsible for whatever I said, right????? Might be too good of an opportunity to pass up! LOL!

I buckled under early this morning and took 1/2 an oxy at about 8:00 after I got to school. Got me over the morning aches and I made it pretty good most of the day.

Tonight we drove out to "preview" some puppies and my knee felt every bump on that gravel road . I am ready to get this torn meniscus out of there... it is causing problems. Then I can get back to the business of life with my new knee and my repaired old knee! I've got a vacation to do!

OOOOOOOOh yes Beach, the trip to Mexico. When do you leave for that? Hope you are not hurting too much tonight. You getting hungry yet? What time are you due to have your surgery? Good luck tomoorow. Will be thinking of you and watching for you to post. (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) Sue

I'm up..... can't get to sleep yet. Had to stay up for my 11:59 PM snack! LOL!
I am missing my NSAIDS... feels like a lot of sharp corners poking me up and down my spine and cranky knees.

We leave for vacation June 19-July 2nd. Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The PA promised me I could go snorkeling and sailing in the Caribbean by then and I am holding her to it!

We went and looked at the sweetest little puppies tonight.... chocolate lab and german shorthair pointer mixes. They are too young now (5 weeks) but we are going back to pick one out in a couple of weeks. There were a couple of "big boys" who were sooooo adorable. One of them even "retrieved" a dead mouse while we were there! What a hoot!

Think I will try some ice packs and hope to sleep soon.

Sorry you were suffering so, Beach. By now you're probably in blissful la-la land or maybe even out of surgery completely. Here's hoping things went perfectly and you are back online posting! The pups sound so adorable. A new puppy in the house will be a wonderful thing to come home to after a Mexican beach vacation. Life is soundin' purty good!!

Beach, let us know how you are doing! And I want to see the new puppy!! I will warn you that German shorthaired pointers are so dang full of energy they drive you nuts bouncing all over the place. I love dogs and I've begged my husband to get rid of his pointer. I love the labs... maybe a mix will get the best of both breeds! I'll pray for that.
Hope you are through surgery and in recovery by now. God be with you!

That breed mixing concept doesn't always work. Our Maisy is mixed Aussie shepard/terrier and St. Bernard. If you see her puppy pix posted on picture thread you'd think she'll take after SB. Big and mellow. Noooo! she got pointy and lean and has plenty of energy like the terrier. (see other pix)

Does anybody know how often you can put this Solaraze Gel on?? The instructions I got with my tubes deals with putting it on skin lesions.

My insurance doesn't include the wonder gel in the formulary at all, so I'd have to pay full price for it. I assume it is quite pricey?? Any idea how much?

My co pay was $50. On the sheet I got with it, it said my insurance saved me $396.....Realistically it didn't cause if they had rung up that much I'd have switched to Ben Gay.

Ok,so this Soleraze... does it help with that deep bone ache? I'm almost 4 mos post op and doing well, but sometimes... Jimminey Crickets it aches!

it is a NSAID based gel (like rubbing Advil into your knee). My OS and his group are using it with great results. Not a miracle cure for pain (what is?) but I get
as much pain relief w/o side effects as my Rx pain meds

Aunt B, I'm also at 4 months. I just got the Solaraze last week. My surgeon didn't think it would penetrate deep enough for that deep ache we get so he didn't initially prescribe it.
I'm having a problem with some of the muscle/tendons closer to the surface at the back of the knee and it does help with that.
But one thing that has been repeatedly proven on this forum is that we are all different in our recovery and it may well give you some "deep" relief.

Solaraze has become so popular in the NYC area that the 100 gm tubes are on an extensive backorder. The pharmacy had to give me 6 50 gm tubes instead.
The word is spreading!

Memorial Day, day off, relaxing and catching up on reading my magazines...
June 2008 Good Housekeeping - goodhealth section pg. 39: "Rubbing away the Pain" blurb about FDA's approval of Voltaren gel.
