AKA Solaraze Gel. I've tried it twice and I LOVE it!! I put it on both knees....it's not greasy - it's a slick gel that is quickly absorbed. It definitley helps with pain. I have carpal tunnel pain in my thumb/wrist - if any of you have that, you KNOW how it hurts....this gel takes that pain AWAY!!!!! I'm THRILLED with this!!!

I highly recommend it and thank my dear friend, Wayne, for introducing me to it.

When you talk to your dr. about it, make SURE that you ask that he/she write the prescription for 300 grams. That equals 3 tubes of the gel. With my BCBS it uses a $50.00 co-pay.

I'm happier about my carpal tunnel pain being eased than my knees!!! I wish it came in a cute little purse size!!! (Hey Wayne....that's an awewome marketing idea....wanna go into bidness with me???)

I squeeze some into those travel size bottles you get at the pharmacy when I am on the move and don't want to shlep that toothpaste size tube. I have used the gel on many places other than my knee with consistently good results. Wish I had invented it.

I see the OS in 2 weeks. I'm gonna ask for it.

I just occurred to me that only Patti knows me as Wayne, the rest of the forum
as dw6928. It might be confusing to see the name Wayne pop up all of the sudden.,

I knew it was you. Saw it somewhere before.

Hello mates, did you know Diclofenac comes in capsule/tablet form too, I,ve been taking it instead of pain killers since day 1....I know it can upset the tummy but you can get it with a modified coating so its way past the stomach before it disolves..hence NO side effects, cheers all klinger

After reading this thread, I called my O.S. today and asked about Dicolfenac Sodium. A rep from the company had just been in and dropped off sample tubes. The Nurse Practicitioner said they had not heard of it before. I told her about this wonderful forum and how I had heard about it here. She had a tube and a script waiting for me this afternoon at the front desk. I am hoping this provides the relief needed without resorting back to the pills.

I just read that there is a patch which has the gel in it for what it is worth. Seems like an expensive waster for us knee people (too large a surface to cover by a patch and it will fall off when you move).

I take diclofenac orally... twice a day. It is one of the stronger NSAIDs, I believe and one of the ones that wreaks havoc on stomachs.... I have no idea if it works... I seem to have no shortage of inflammation. I am going to ask about the gel.

By the end of the work week I can hardly walk. So, no--- I would say the oral form is not working for my knee pain.

I have my pre-op appt. on Tuesday and will ask about the gel.

Make sure to get the Rx for 300 grams as Patti indicated (same co-pay). I just put some on 15 minutes ago....80% pain is gone. Even Percocet is only rated at 70% pain reduction for moderate to severe pain!

I'm really hoping that gel will help me too. It feels like the inside of the medial surface of my knee is "skinned"---- remember that fell-down-on-the-playground feeling? It feels like if that gel can penetrate through that layer it could really soothe that "burning" feeling.

I have already written down the specs.... and will check it out.
