Dentist

I have a appt. for next Wed to have my teeth clean and to have the dentist to check my mouth. The way my luck goes dont you know that this morning i started to get a funny feeling in my mouth by lunch the side of my mouth started to sweel up, I lost a filling 2 weeks ago when hubby was in the hospital and forgot to call about that, so I called the dentist and told what was going on and i was told that she will talk to the dentist and call me back,after a hour she called and said i could go in at 2 but the dentist will only look but wouldnt do any work or i could take some penicillin and come in on Monday. I said i would come in on Monday why waste the money if the dentist couldnt do any thing. Now I have I have started the penicillin and my face is getting bigger so the ice pack on, what is my luck of this going down to the knee? Thanks

Aw you I am sorry. I hope I wont since you are taking the medicine. Tomorrow being firday call the Dr if you can see what he says or it will just bother you all weekend........Just a thought........Things have got to go you way soon......You will so be in my prayers...Hang in there..

Have you taken any pain relief for your tooth? If not, take a couple of ibuprofen (or any anti-inflammatory) straight away, and keep it up every 4 hours. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in asap and will help the swelling settle down (as well as provide cover for your knee). Good luck!

I have no idea about it getting to your knee, but I'm sorry you are having this problem. Good Luck. I would definately call tomorrow .

You need to give your surgeon a call first thing tomorrow morning. He may or may not agree with the penicillin. Many times a stronger antibiotic is prescribed. But the surgeon definitely needs to know what's going on. I agree with Peta that it's probably good to take an anti-inflammant also (Tylenol, Aleve). The fact that the swelling is increasing would be something to be concerned about - knee or no knee. I hope Jo posts also when she wakes up.....your situation needs her medical expertise and advice! Penicillin is no good, tooyoung. You need a much more specific antibiotic than that. But I would imagine your surgeon will want you to have them just to be ..... you know! "On the safe side"!

Thanks all I am going to call right now as of this morning the whole side of my face going up to my eye is getting biggger even through i had the ice pack on. I didnt take any ibuprofen wasnt sure on that as my pain med is hydrocod/apap 10/325 and i take that every 5-6 hours. off to make a phone call

My mom is an Xray tech so has no control over the calls. She says she can here some of the nurses saying well that call will just have to wait till Monday. They didnt feel like doing it...sad!!! She says she wishes she could make the calls. NOT ALL are like that but even one is not fair......She does say the ones that keep calling will get that call back though....

I am kicking myself in the you know what I fell asleep after i wrote that last post ,I had both phones on the bed next to me and I never got a phone call back I justed call again and i pushed the button for emergery (sp) and left a message. I have been taking my temp. and its ok also i have the ice pack on. but it doesnt look like the swelling is going down. i am doing the one finger typing as the other hand is holding the ice pack.

Yes, the on-call surgeon is a good idea. You cannot go all weekend with the problem continuing to get worse. Keep us updated....you know we're concerned about you!
