Well after 6 1/2 months of feeling better pretty much every day, somehting happened yesterday that has me a bit concerned...

While walking slowly through a store with the family, I got a very sharp pain deep in the hip socket.

It lasted just a moment and was followed with a much less sever ache that I would only rate a 1 or 2 on a 1 - 10 scale.

While I had resumed normalacy in most every way, I had not done anything strenuous or unusual. I had been sick with a stomach virus and spent a couple of days at home in and out of bed this last week. My thinking at this point is that the lack of activity for a few days may have contributed to some dynamic that caused the tissues to rebell; the other notion that is rolling around inside my head I don't want to entertain.

If the dull ache is still there on Monday I'll be ringing the doctor...

I agree It prob is nothing ( I hope ) but to ease your mind yes I would find out.. Im just a knee but still every once in awhile get bads pains from no where....Be careful today, to make sure............Im sure its ok though....

I think your overall assessment of cause and action is correct, Mud. You should get it checked out if it persists but the odds are much in favour of it being a temporary sprain kind of thing.

Mud, I get those 'out of the nowhere' sharp pains turning to dull aches too when most of my days are completely painless now. No rhyme or reason, just seems my hip decides to have a hissy fit :hissy:. I take Advil (800 mg) and things calm down very quickly. Have you taken anything yet or iced?

I'd get it checked just so you don't have to spend a lot of time thinking about it. I have that low 1-2 something somewhere near the hip too. I don't think it has ever gone away. I'm going to ask about it at my apt on Wed. I'll let you know what I learn.
I have asked my pt about it months ago. He tried to give me some stretches to do, they never quite hit the spot. I still have an out of allignment leg so I blame mine on some ligament or muscle or something soft!!!

Let us know

Oh Mud! I'm hoping things check out! I know how active you are....play it safe nd have yourself checked out if your pain continues to linger! It never hurts to put your mind at ease! Let us know how you are doing! And Happy Father's Day!!! Try to enjoy your day!!

I spent some time in a pool this afternoon and went back to basic PT exercises while playing catch with my young son. The cool water and stretching has had a positive effect on the hip as I am feeling much better this evening.

Thanks for the concern and comments; it is very nice to know you can talk to people who immediately understand how this would feel and what we would think about it.

I've only just gotten around to reading this thread Mud - can't tell you how glad I am that things are on the improve! Hopefully it will just be "one of those things"!
