Hello to you all!
I went in for BTKR on 6/18.
I had General Anethesia along with a Femoral nerve block in each leg.
I stayed @ the hospital from Wed, 6/18 until 4:30 PM on Friday 6/20.
I then transferred to HealthSouth Hospital Rehab and came home from there on Thursday evening, 6/26. My ROM was 110/3 in the left knee and 105/4 in the right knee.
I can do the 16 stairs to get to the second floor with a crutch. I have not chosen to take them on as yet. I love sleeping in the recliner as it allows me to change my position with ease.
I was visited by the home health PT and walked outside on Friday up the street about 150 feet and back again.
I find I get the "stuffing" punched right out of me at times; dressings, walking, and sitting for too long.
My left knee seems to have been the one that gave the OS the most trouble. I had a volcano of a bone spur on my tibial plateau (I hit a tree skiing in 1996). Anyway, I am working on getting rid of the black and blues from crotch to ankle on that side. My right was not as bad. I did have to have a lateral release of the patella on both knees.
Today is my first venture sitting at the desk top computer and getting in communication........
I am taking dilaudid and visterol for pain medications. They seem to be doing OK for me.
It is tough when the pain gets ahead of you~
So next, I have to take the time to catch up on Simon, Karen, Hess, Viking Fan, Dee, Sharon, and Bumleg to see how you all are doing!
My shorts (men's) are working out great for me. My favorite are the Under Armor ones.......
My appetite is very small. It amazes me how much it takes to recover from this regarding food intake. Fruit seems to be the thing that interests me the most. Very unusual for me to want to eat this much fruit (both fresh and canned)!
Anyway, it is good to be on the other side!
My child care children are returning on Monday!
Best,
Crystal
