Sorry you are frustrated. A new hip will be a great present this year. It's going to be tough to plan much of anything for April 2 even if they take you tomorrow...
Next year will be so different...you will be w:yes:ell on your way to a life without pain!
    Hope they call you soon.

I've had similar concerns about anesthesia and also had an involved hip replacement that required the removal of pins/screws. I came to peace with it and when I woke in recovery I knew I was on the positive side of this. I was the first one in on surgery day and I knew it was because of the additional work involved. My surgeon came in and saw me after the surgery and let me know I got my money's worth as he had a real job removing hardware that was in there 49 years. You have to have faith in your surgeon and the hospital and you will be fine.

Hi, I managed to get through to the booking office yesterday and they have given me a rough date for hip replacement surgery on Tuesday 24th April but they said it could change and is not set in stone. I think I will have to go for another pre op assessment because my last one was on 23rd January.

Thank you for your reply. I am looking forward to getting a new hip for the summer. If the operation goes well and I have no complications.

I am still scared about the general anaesthetic and not waking up. I know it is daft because I have had GA loads of times before and came through fine. I just hope this time is the same as the last time then I can just focus on the recovery side which will be a relief.

It's a serious thing, anaesthesia and surgery.
I had GA and did fine...minor aftereffects.
But your anxiety is something I'm sure many of us have shared.

    hi

The closer the 24th April gets the more nervous I get I keep having seconds thoughts on whether I want the surgery I am just scared something is going to wrong with the operation or the general anathestic.
but I don't want to keep going the way I am either.

I think they shouldn't give us so much time to think!
I'm guessing you have expressed your concerns about the general anesthesia to your OS?
Honestly, I did great with surgery, and mine was twice as long.
    Try not to worry...
Getting rid of this horrid hip pain is well worth it. I'm delighted at how well I am doing.
You will be so glad to be hip pain free.:yahoo:

    Hi Mojo

you are right I should try not to worry about I am sure that the surgeon knows what he is doing and he has properly done it several times before, I am glad you are recovering well did you have a general anathestic then.

    Hi:wave:
I did have general anesthesia...surgeon's choice.
I had some nausea, nothing too terrible...and not sure if that wasn't due to pain meds or GA or both.
Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner. You can always add an @ sign to a name and it will "tag" or alert them!
I would guess you would have new pre-op...but I would certainly call and see.
    Guessing you are getting anxious.
Glad you seem to have confidence in your OS...getting shed of that hip pain is well worth am the recovery mess!
Hope you have a Good week.:) :-) (:

I'm guessing since you've been on the site, you will have a "leg up" on what to expect for recovery.
I couldn't do the "what ifs" after I was given double hip replacement as only answer to ridding myself of that ever increasing debilitating chronic pain. Would've made me crazy!
I am ever so glad I got this done!:egypdance:
    We are cheering for you:yay:!
The waiting is the worst part.....
    Hope your day is sweet!

You're not alone @LINDZ1975 Most all of us were afraid to one degree or another.
I wish I could say something to ease your fears but sadly it's something we have to deal with.
The days leading up to surgery are the worst. Try to occupy yourself with setting up for your recovery.
Find things to focus on and engage in as a diversion. Two weeks will be here in a flash and you'll be onto recovery. We'll be here to encourage and cheer you on.
Prayers for your comfort and peace of mind as you await the 24th.

    Thank you Layla

The waiting is the worst part and they said when I phoned that the 24th April is not set in stone and could change, I have not received a letter yet and I am half expecting to be going for another pre op because the one I had in January only lasts 12 weeks in England so it runs out next week. I just wished they would hurry up did you have to wait a long time?

    Have a nice day today

    hi all

still not received a admission letter yet, I am giving them until thursday this week and if I haven't heard anything by thursday after I finish work at 2pm I will give them another call to see if I can find out what is happening, it is quite annnoying my boss keeps asking me everyday if i have heard from the hospital it is annoying but I can understand why she keeps asking it is because she needs to arrange cover for me while I am off sick.

hopefully I should hear something this week fingers crossed, as the 24th April gets closer I feel more nervous and scared mainly about the General Anathestic and I am still scared that I won't wake up, I know this sounds stupid and chances of anything bad happening with the GA is extremley low. I try to distract myself by thinking about trips I am going on later in the year with my new joint and next year me and my husband are going to australia to visit his Aunt and cousins so I need to be ok for then.

I am just scared something is going to wrong I know it is stupid and silly but I think the waiting makes it worse.

Theatres are scheduled weeks in advance. I would call the hospital today and get this sorted. My worry would be you have fallen off the list somehow. Call and insist you get a date.
