Ok - Its me up here in the snow- (Well just a little bit of snow)
On Friday afternoon I stood up from behind my desk and the school psych about took my head off. She was extremely concerned about the color of my leg (the one with the new knee). She was ready totake me to the ER. I kinda laughed and joked that I am a chameleon these days. She isn't the first one to notice and I haven't asked anybody yet - so I though I would ask you all. I am like almost 12 weeks since surgery - the swelling is still there but much better than the past. I am a fair skinned german irish girl. Needless to say living in AK I don't get much suntanning in the summer so I am pretty pale when it comes to the legs. Whnever the knee is not elevated the leg gets reddish or purplish (depending on the person - or maybe the lighting) and is really warm. For instance - I am sitting at the computer and have been here for about 30 minutes - the knee from my lower thigh to my lower calf is a pretty shade of red and is very very warm. The warmth is from the above the top of the scar to about 1 inch below it and all across the front - not the back - although sometimes that heats up too.
My school psych is a hoot and I was able to tell her to chill out - and that I thought it just had to do with blood flow to the joint and healing and all that. But the more I thought about it the more I am bothered by it. At PT we never notice because it is red the whole time - we start by heating it up anyway so we always figured that was why.
Using the JAS seems to have not made a change - I had the next teacher over stop me and ask if I was ok - I guess my leg looked purple in the flourescent lights - and that was b4 usung the JAS.
Should I be concerned - I will definitely talk with PT tomorrow and the OS on Wed. I do not have a fever but am always tired (I just figured that was my job - aren't we all after a long day of work???)
Thanks in advance- Sorry so wordy - I haven't talked to many adults today and am taking the time now
