PKR Clunky Knee

I have a scheduled appointment with another surgeon on the 19th of this month. He is a associate of my original surgeon.
I think you need to see an OS that has no affiliation with your current doctor. He/she should not even know your doctor and should be a revision specialist. Seeing your knee with no preconceived notions will give you the best possible outcome.

Hi @Ginger1210 . Sorry that you are joining the 2 years out and still in pain club. Going on my experience, and many others, please take the advice of @sistersinhim re surgeons. It seems that they are all reluctant to criticise the work of anyone that they work with, or know, or are likely to come across.
Keep us posted, do understand, and hope that you can find a solution soon.

HI all good people.

I had my planned appointment with my original surgeons associate (Mr. Duffy). To be honest i was a little apprehensive and worried he would try to fob me off so to speak.
I was pleasantly surprised he looked at my knee asked lots of questions re X-rayed my knee he said he could not see any problems with the implant and therefore my issue is he thinks is around the implant.
He suggested going into my knee with a camera and have a real look around while moving the knee to see what is catching and crunching and hopefully the source of the pain.
He was very reassuring and stressed there was no rush in this and it was up to me. I replied by asking if it was his knee what would you do. He replied i would have the camera to find the issue then possibly a solution.
I did stress to him that key hole surgery was the beginning of all my issues. He understood this but did say this was slightly different as no cartilage is going to be removed which is what happened in the previous operations as there is no cartilage left.
I agreed and he has scheduled me in for after September.
This is a little ray of sunshine. I will continue to swim and exercise as much as my knee lets me in order to keep my fitness and leg strength up.

HI all good people.
Sounds like we have similar issues. Just had my scoped yesterday. I told him fix everything while in there as I did not what to do this twice. He did mention possible IT band if needed which would be longer recovery. Fortunatley he did not need to mess with IT band and just cleaned and polished the knee up on the inside.

Good luck with your scope.

HI All good people.
I hope all are well?

Its been a while since my last post. I am scheduled for arthroscopic surgery this coming Friday. My Consultant Mr. London contacted me a couple of weeks ago and discussed the procedure. I did ask him that it was his colleague Mr. Duffy. who suggested the camera and i thought it would be him doing the procedure. Mr. London who is a professor wants to tackle this himself he was the surgeon who fitted my partial knee and would like to find the solution to my continued pain. He did say there is a 70-80 percent chance of improvement
I am a little apprehensive to be sure as this will be the 5th surgery on my knee hopefully it will help and i can get back to being a little more normal. My goal has always been to be healthy enough to return to my original career as a engineer.
I will keep you updated as to my recovery and out come.
Thank you all again for your continued support and advice.

Best Wishes for Friday! You have endured a lot with your knee. I am sorry you are once again facing surgery.
I hope the 70-80% chance of improvement predicted becomes your reality. Please stay in touch and let us know how you're doing as you're healing. Take good care!
@Ginger1210

I’m so happy for you and hope that they find something to fix! Arthroscopic surgery certainly changed my life. This will be a breeze compared to the original surgery and the pain that you’ve lived with since. Sending positive thoughts your way.

HI All. My initial date of the 6 of October has now been rescheduled for the 26 there was a mix up in my records and they thought i was paying for the procedure my self and not through the NHS This was cleared up by Mr. London's PA. But did cause a delay.
Its not a problem a few more weeks is fine as i am a expert at managing my Knee by now. Thanks for all the good luck wish`s.

HI All good people. My surgery date has changed again it is now today 19/10/2023. Sat in my gown awaiting theater.

Will update when back at home.

Have a good surgery. We will be waiting to hear from you.

Best Wishes, Ginger!
Will be watching for you on the healing side.

HI All. Back home safe now. Procedure went well. They had a good look around my complete knee. They did find some bone protrusions both the top and bottom of my knee joint near my implant that they think have been causing my impingement. The surgeon removed these so now no bone left to cause any issues on my medial side.
The rest of my knee looks all good.
The Staff and surgeon were excellent i have to say. They have given me my physio exercises to do but forget that i will follow the bonesmart way rest and daily activities. This isn`t my first rodeo. So far no lingering pain at all. We shall see even if i can get 10% better i will be happy.
