Revision THR Can they replace or resurface the cap - not replace whole joint?

Does anyone know if you can just replace or resurface the cap and not replace the whole joint?

What is the surgeon telling you about the current condition of your implant?

Hello Jaycey and thank you for responding.

Yes, I've had a total hip replacement..2 on the left side .. and 1 on the right side.
I'm pretty sure it's failing (right side) because it feels the same as when the other one failed. actually I can't remember which side failed the first time ...I would imagine the oldest one

I haven't been to a doc. yet because I'm trying to find one that does revisions and not replacements
I have a titanium joint and a poly-plastic cap.. I would think the doc could just replace the cap ... cause I don't think the titanium joint is going to wear out.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer

@robbie H Have you seen your surgeon about this? I think that would be the first step .. to find out if there is damage to the cup or some other problem and what needs to happen to fix it. I think (but I'm not a surgeon or nurse) they can just replace the cup but again that would have to be up to your surgeon to decide.

@robbie H Until you have the proper diagnostic tests you can't get any judgement as to what is needed. I agree, you need to find a revision specialist who can assess the situation. Sorry to say our list of surgeons does not cover Columbia.

I appreciate both your replies. I don't have a surgeon yet, I'll go back to he US to have it done because my Insurance will cover most of it. My daughter lives in K.C. Mo. so I'm looking for a doctor there. any help will be most appreciated. I've go an appt. to have x-rays, then I'll send to a doc when I find one that does revisions.
