In sparing my "no cartilege "right knee, I over used the left knee, resulting in the most unpleasant inflamation of the Hoffa's Fat Pad. This burning at a constant level of 6-7 on a scale of 1 to 10 that no pain meds relieve...has really rendered me rather helpless. I cancelled a Jan. right knee replacement due to the "bursitis in the left knee, have a therapist taping the knee to lift the knee cap off the Fat Pad. Now have learned how to tape my knee myself. I have so many exercises to do to strengthen both leg and thigh muscles, but can't do much, because all irritate the left knee so much. I'm asking all of you out there , if you have had bursitis in the knee, what did or did you not do.how long were you in pain until it receded. I know it will go away, and it's not knee joint related, but it certainly taught me a new meaning of sustained pain. Frankly, it makes the right knee feel good. It only hurts after I have walked a good long way, and then it goes away. Any imput greatly appreciated! Oh, now have a March op date, but even that may have to be moved if this doesn't get better!

Hello Knee, sorry to hear about your busitis. Haven't had that problem myself, but hopefully our nurse Jo will be able to help you when she gets online. Good luck, hope it gets better soon.

My recommendation is - a TENS machine! It's just the kind of situation where it shines. And take NSAIDs as well. They may not help the pain but they'll help with inflammation.
