Hi all,

I'm having a horrible burning sensation on the top of my knee today. It has been taking some hits lately, as I sleep on my side facing my husband and if he's on his back, he has a tendency to draw up his knee and it hits mine. This is, of course, an accident when it happens, but YEOWCH!

He did it again this morning, and all day today my knee (near the kneecap) has been burning, burning, burning. It's making me miserable, actually. I'm icing it and it's been elevated for much of the day, but still! Should I be worried?

And yes, we're switching sides of the bed so this doesn't happen again!

Kim,
It appears he is hitting where you had your quad tendon cut....
Not fun. Frankly, I slept in a recliner for the first 6 weeks, elevated and iced in the middle of the night.....
Do you have another place to sleep? That is my advice.
Sorry.... I have moved from the recliner to the guest room. Someday in the near future I will reclaim my place in our king size bed, but not quite yet. I am 3.5 months post op....
I had a visit with my PCP today for my monthly narcotic medications. He was very pleased with my progress. Gave me more Dilaudid and Celebrex. I am only taking the Dilaudid at night.
Hope switching sides of the bed helps....... If not, find another place to sleep! You need your rest without your incision area being attacked.......
Best,
Crystal

Thanks Crystal. I'm not even taking any narcotics now, haven't for about a week. On most days, I can control the pain with Advil 800 mg, and extra strength Tylenol. I do still have the narcotics, just haven't felt the need to take them. However, tonight may be a night that I do. Cannot take them right now because I'm working.

My leg feels like it's about 1,000 pounds again today. The front of my hip hurts from the strain of lifting the darn leg! Yeah, I'm in whining mode today. I've had such GOOD days, I hate going backwards. The burning is what really bothers me, though, I'm just worried something got damaged.

The burning is RIGHT over my kneecap. I think my quad muscles were cut right above my knee cuz that is still quite swollen. My pants always look funny because of it...this big ol' lump right above my knee.
