Richard! When 0i used to post...it would show up immediately...now sometimesmmmost times,m my reply doesn't show up for quite awhile! This never used to happen! This happens on BOTH the mobile and the PC Bonesmart site! Could this PLEASE be remedied! For a forum, this is quite distracting and am losing the fluidity of members comments!
 
I moved your post out of Richard's thread as I don't want it to become a bug report thread! :wink: Bugs should be reported to me!

As for this, I think there are a few issues with the board at the moment. They arise from the server who has been alerted and will be looking into it soon. Keep me posted if you continue to have problems.

Honestly,Mark, I don't know what on earth happened here! When I post, I never see what I posted until quite a bit later! I noticed this on my Blackberry, AND my PC! Has anyone else noticed this yet?

sounds to me like your pc/mobile is caching it too long, or rather your ISP is having trouble with the datacentre

posts appear real time for me (AOL internet service)
 
I've noticed this too Judles. The post used to show immediately but now I have to log out and log back in again before it shows, and sometimes it's not there even then. It's a bit disconcerting as I'm never sure whether the post has sent properly or whether it's floating in the ether somewhere. Linda x
 
Exactly, Linda!!! And the most annoying and frustrating thing is as soon as I send reply.....it just seems to go into Cyber-space and not only does the reply not show up but the whole thread just seems to disappear!!! Sooo weird and frustrating!!!! :( I'm just glad its just not happening to me!!!! But I hope it can be fixed like it used to be!!!!
 
Thanks to both of you for making a detailed report of the problem you're experiencing! As Jo mentioned, there are a couple of server issues that are being checked out. Richard's idea about the caching might be a possibility, although I'm not knowledgeable enough about it to say what you could do if that WAS the problem.

Please let us know when the problem goes away. I can definitely see how it would be difficult to use the forum with this going on.

Ummm,,Judles girl,,,that would be cashing a check at the bank.

Caching means ,,like that head cold ya got,,,you were caching a cold!

I have limited knowledge of this stuff, but as I understand it, computer and computer systems all have what is called a cache. It's a "holding tank" for data. I am familiar with it's function on your individual PC or mobile device as it holds information about web sites you have visited. But from what Richard wrote, it sounds like internet service providers also have a cache function that ques and holds messages sent - like the BoneSmart posts. He's suggesting that somehow it is set to "hold" them a bit too long. That's why I say I'm not sure how you would go about fixing that if it was the problem. But I would think if it was a cache problem with your provider, ALL of your transmissions would be delayed in the same manner. That's just my humble, untechnical opinion.

Sorry....no money involved with a cache....

Jamie! I kinda/sorta understand what you mean in theory.....but it just ain't workin' in practice! Sometimes when I post, it shows up immediately on the forum, other times, like late last night in particular, when there was very light interaction, the replies went into cyber-space altogether! :bow:
 
I'd have a go at explaining too but I understand so little ..... think I'll stick to hips and knees!
 
Now when I send this .....and it does NOT show.....just WHERE DOES it go??? And when does it come BACK????? STILL BAFFLING!!! On my Mobile AND my PC!!!!
 
I would say....with my limited knowledge....that if the postings sometimes post correctly and other times they don't, it is likely not a cache problem....or it would happen the same all the time. What you are describing sounds more like the server and system issues that Jim (our other computer guru) and Richard have been talking about with Jo. This is the issue they are working on. So keep your fingers crossed that the wizards of programming can pull the rabbit out the hat, whilst aligning the sun, the moon and all the stars....and fix the problem.

See...my tech knowledge didn't go very far before I had to resort to the thing I understand most when it comes to computers....magic!
