I am one of the blessed - everything has went well.
They got me up the day after surgery and my right knee buckled so I had to have a brace for the first 3 times. They had done femoral blocks with bulb for ongoing meds. The left knee worked and the right didn't. Might have had something to do with the knee buckling. Also had a morphine pump for pain. I had pain but it wasn't terrible. The strange thing is, I am forgetting everything about the surgery and hospital stay fast. Was taken off morphine three days out and put on hydrocodone. The femoral block bulb went empty the next morning.
Went to rehab for 5 days which was a big help. I could have made it coming straight home but rehab was just easier on everyone. By the time I left rehab my right knee was 12/98 and the left was 15/95.
Got out of rehab last Friday and started physical therapy Tuesday. PT is HARD. Knees were very sore last night. Will have them to take it back a few steps when I go back Thursday. Yesterday they had me riding the recumbant bike for 10 minutes, the recumbant elipitcal for 10 minutes, the leg press for 10 minutes and then doing standing exercises. At the time it felt okay but I paid for it later.
I go to my OS tomorrow. Hopefully will get the staples out. Am also wondering if he is going to be stingy with pain meds. When I left rehab that doctor cut the hydrocodone down to 10mg every 6 hours. Pain breaks through at about 5 hours so I am taking it at 4 to 5 hours. Thankfully I had some hydrocodone at home.
I have a desktop PC and have just got to the point I can sit in a chair for a few minutes to get on the computer to post. This posting may make no sense but I am not worring about the small stuff. If anyone has any questions I will be happy to answer.
