Well I made it. I had the surgery(LTHR) done on the 24th, and came home on the 29th. The pain is still pretty bad, having a hard time getting comfortable. Appetite is really off, not eating much. Walking short distances with the walker with discomfort. I have oxycocone-APAP 5-325MG, 1 OR 2 TAB. every 4 hrs.. I try to get alone with just one pill at a time, but it does not work that well. If I take two pills, I get dizzy and nauseated. Hope everybody else is doing well. Brenda

Re: 4 days to surgery

Hang in there hon! Each day will get better!! Does your leg feel like it weights 300 lbs? Mine did. Cant remember when it started feeling normal. Before you know it you will lift you leg onto the bed and realize, "HEY, that did not hurt!!"

Re: 4 days to surgery

Great news that you are on the other side, Brenda!! Each day will bring improvements. Keep your pain under control and you'll be able to do more. How about cutting the pills in half and taking 1 1/2 at a time? Or calling your doc to switch to a different pain med - there are LOTS of options if one makes you sick.

Brenda - so glad to hear you are home and getting along. Jamie is right to suggest you cut a pill in half. Could be your level!

I moved your posts into the recovery forum, ok?

While I was in the hospital, I had a spell where I couldn't breath.. Of course I thought of a blood clot, they did a CT Scan and chest x-ray and nothing showed. I had another spell 2nd night at home, could not breath and my throat was closing off, I finally discovered what the cause was. It was beatuiful lilies that my son and his family sent, I must be allergic to them. My husband moved them into the room that I was staying in that morning, they were also in my hopital room when it happend there. Needless to say they are not in the house now.. Getting in and out of bed is a little easier now. Appetite is coming back some. 8 days postop pain is better when I take 2 pills. I just talked with my Doctor's office and they ordered more pain pills, and said that it is fine to still be taking 2pills at a time for pain. I was trying to cut down on the amount I was taking, because they are a controlled drug, then the pain gets really bad. Hope everybody is having a good day.

Hi Brenda!! Never a dull moment! I hope you get your pain under control and then you will start enjoying every new day! So glad the worst is over! Happy Healing!!:skp:

Brenda, hon....don't worry about taking the pain meds. You NEED them now, so please take them without worry. You'll be fine and your body will allow you to taper off them as the pain subsides.

8 days and you're trying to cut back! No no no no! This is when you need them and you'll continue to need them for at least another 6 weeks. Be kind to yourself, please.

Thanks for the info. I am taking the pain pills 2 at a time, and I am doing much better. I can actually move my leg much better, since the pain is less. My appetite has improved and I feel like a humaning today. Day 9. My husband has been a Great Great help. I hope everyone is having a good day. I will check back in later.
