Hi everyone,
I had a bone scan today. I have had on going pain in my thigh and hip
for months now. Of course they couldn't tell me in xray what the results
were but she did say there was a "hot" spot or dark spot on the outside
of the hip. I am hoping nothing is out of place. Anyone have any ideas??
Gail H.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me and toes too!

I had an appt. with the ortho doc he ordered the bone scan,Ii go back to see him tomorrow, this is a different one than did my surgery. The one that did my surgery
was not listening to me, I told him months ago that I was having pain, all he wanted to know was if I needed more time off of work. Idiot!

Idiot is right, Gail! Deal with him AFTER you get yourself sorted out first!! :sct:

Oh shopgal! That's such a shame. Do let us know the outcome.

Does anyone have any ideas of what this might be other than something loose??
I am going crazy worrying about this.

When do you get the official results back? Only your OS will know! :sct::pzld:

Try to get some rest, I know your mind is racing......but you won't know til tomorrow afternoon anyway!

Shopgal....so sorry you are having to wait to hear what is causing your pain. I don't have any ideas about what that technician might have meant by a "hot spot." I hope you have an answer very soon.

Please do let us know how you are.....(((HUGS))))....try not to worry, okay!

Hello all, thanks for all your concern. Here is the report from
the radiologist.

There are increased uptakes in the right greater
trochanter. Mild nonspecific diffuse uptake is also seen in the right
acetabulum. There is a focal abnormal uptake at the superior aspect of
the right acetabulum. Mild increased uptake is also seen in the right
mid femur near the tip of the prosthesis.

IMPRESSION: Abnormal uptakes at the right greater trochanter,
right acetabulum and right mid femur. Part of this could be due to postoperative
changes of the right hip replacement, but hardware loosening can have a similar
appearance. Clinical correlation and correlation with and X-ray is suggested.

So the OS wasn't happy with the radiologist reading on this, and he said
with looking at the x-ray of the hip, he said it was probably post
operative changes. He gave me a cortisone shot in the hip which didn't
seem to help. So I go back to see him in 4 weeks.

I'm icing my hip and leg hoping that will take some of the pain and
swelling away. And being happy with no revision again. Which I told
him that surgery was NOT an option!!!!!
Thanks all! Any comments or suggestions I would greatly appreciate!!
Jo,,,,,whats your opinion on this report??
Gail H.

Gail....can you get a CD of your xrays for Jo to look at? Many times the lab will provide one for you if you ask.

Great...I know Jo would appreciate being able to see the pictures for herself. If you need help getting them posted, just let me know. There are instructions for using www.tinypic.com under the INFORMATION CENTER section.

In that case, I'll hold on my comments till the films are posted!

:Any news yet, Gail? Good luck!!! :pzld:
