Hi every 1, something came up today is a problem. when i was checking out the nurse said to take only 1 30mg og lovenox - enoxaparin. But on the prescription dr wrote says 2 injections a day. I have been doing 1 a day dor last 5 days out of hospital. I had a TNR on July 31st. What do you people take for blood thinners after? I am going to family dr today. TY all. Joe

Joe, until you spoke with your doctor's office, I would continue with the one shot a day. I believe that is the usual dose of lovenox.

Joe, talk to your doc, but I took two a day--one in the am and one in the pm. I injected it for ten days. Much better than Coumadan!!

My doctor just had me take aspirin. I think he'd said I could discontinue it after a week and 1/2 since I'd had problems with aspirin reducing my platelet count years ago.

Joe one a day I did it......I would call your Dr fist thing tomorrow. I dont think that is right.....Stay well.....Really I did Lovenox for 21 days one shot a day ...Good Luck to ya!!!!!!!!! Be careful......Now I still take one aspirin a day for other reasons.....

Joe,

I had a left TKR on July 13, 2009. Doc has me on a 325 mg aspirin twice a day for 30 days. For my right TKR in May 2007 he prescribed one 325 mg aspirin daily.

My hospital has a protocol for TKR patients. Standard regimen of Lovenox is 30mg twice a day in the hospital, then 40mg once daily at home, for total of 30 days treatment. I was so happy when I gave myself the last shot!!! But, I was grateful to be able to get Lovenox, since it has a great record for preventing blood clots.

Hi Joe, I had a tkp back in April and had to give myself a shot once a day for 10 days. I sure hate to go through that again but my second tkp is coming up in Sept and once again the lovenox shots will be waiting for me. Good Luck!

My pharmacist at Kroger had to order Luvenox. It's waiting for me...I will post back how many shots I have to do a day, but I believe I was told 1. (I'm not very medical type of person so this will be interesting!)

Hi all. I got my Luvenox. My instructions are to use 1 syringe twice a day. So that means 2 syringes a day.

My insurance company only picked up about 1/5 of the cost....so it blew my pocket out about 455.00. I wasn't prepared for that!

Ouch! Is that usually what your insurance pays on prescriptions? If it isn't, you might give them a call and see if at least part of the amount could be reimbursed to you. That's the down side of using the Lovenox instead of aspirin or Coumadin. Lovenox is a brand name drug with no generic and it will cost more.

If you ever have to go through something like this again, check ahead of time and get prescriptions BEFORE your surgery so you have time to mail them to your insurance company's mail order pharmacy. Usually that is MUCH less out of pocket for you.
