About 5½ weeks out have stenosis in L3 looking for a stretching exercise that does not risk dislocation.

    Hi @Bobov
Are you saying you had Anterior Total Hip Replacement because your signature is reflecting
Bilateral Knee replacement. Could you please clarify...
    Thanks!

Bilateral Hip replacement both hips done at the same time was 90% bone on bone and calcium fused on the left hip prior to surgery. The doctor used an anterior approach incisions are on the front part of my thigh. I have a lot of relief from the pain about 8-9 weeks since surgery. I am still sore right at the incisions worse on the left and my back is acting up. Prior to being diagnosed I had an MRI that showed spinal stenosis particularly in L3 the stretching exercises require a forward motion of the hips which I was told could cause dislocation. I was hoping someone may have an exercise that I can safely use to reduce my back pain. Sorry for any confusion I never was very good with medical terms.

Thanks for the assist I am glad to hear there are some other bilaterals out there. My experience has been quite positive and I think after a few more months I should be able to start yoga again to relieve the back pain.

@Bobov You really need to ask your surgeon about your back exercises. Only someone who knows your medical history would be able to recommend a specific exercise for your back issues.

If you go into the hip recovery forum, you'll notice that the threads all have prefixes. One of them is like this bilateral THR.JPG . If you click on the green prefix, it will take you to a search of ALL the threads bearing that prefix. Happy reading!

I have some ongoing back issues also.
Will be interested to keep up with how you are handling exercises and/or yoga okayed by doctor at some point.
Would like to visit chiropractor but waiting for one year visit in few months to verify all is well with implants.
Glad you seem to be recovering well!

Cleared for light yoga none too soon. Played habitat for humanity for my older sister. Worked to hard on her house and am feeling the back pretty bad. Doc started me on celebrex again thought a 90 day course would help with my swelling. That’s all for now hope to get into the beginner class soon. Will let you know how it goes.

Easy does it on all that activity my double hippy pal.
Lords of healing even at 4 months...might need to back off of any extracurricular activity and see if things ease.
    Double bionics, double healing

The yoga has helped but not as much as I hoped I think the marathon is only a quarter done and will just have to keep pacing myself. Hope all of you are doing well!

:hi: I know it's quite a journey but glad to hear from you.
Hoping things continue to improve week by week.
Keep the faith, month four and five were both turnaround months for me.

Not sure what I did but my back really acted up last night had to take one of my left over tramadol. That enabled sleep and I definitely feel better today. Still feeling tons better than before surgery and I can put on socks with out tools now!!! I always try to remember that it can be so much worse. So happy I had the hips replaced and have much better mobility than before. I am trying to get to a point where I can golf again my son is moving back to town and expects to golf once a week. I think he will be waiting for his dad for a while longer.

Saw the back doc yesterday and he cleared me to do some additional exercise hoping to relive some more back pain with more stretching.
