Greetings from the happiest gal in MS tonight! New hip inserted, out with the bad stuff, I already love it! We have some work to do before it will love me but I’m patient and determined. :heehee:

I’ll write a recap over the weekend but let me just say that all your well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers are so appreciated. I was never anxious, afraid, nor hesitant. There was such a peace about my decision and I’m so thankful for everyone I’m my life who helped and continue to help make it happen and be successful. There was no drama. Everything went according to plan. Blessed.

Now, my next pain med dose is due at 1 am so let me try to grab a few winks before then. More later.

:dancy::loveshwr::spin::yes!::cheers:

Lovely to hear that you are so happy. Hurray for your new hip.

@beachgal happy to have you back on the healing side! :wave: Look forward to your recap this weekend and hope you are resting comfortably.

Hello from my recovery place, with football game on, ice pack in place, and a few pillows for elevation. This is a most amazing surgery and I continue to be grateful for all the guidance along the way.

After my outpatient release at 3 pm last Thursday, we retreated to the hotel room all set up for my recovery. I began my pain med regime of Percocet every four hours with plenty of water. Ate light meals as digestive tract got back on board, and have had no problems navigating around with my walker. PT came Friday and Saturday, took drain out and replaced bandage for any oozing that might occur, and we did a full PT routine on Friday. Saturday was a different story. My nerve block wore off around 7 pm Friday night and I had to supplement pain meds with additional Acetaminophen. When PT came Saturday, he could tell I was hurting a bit but after we stretched out a bit, I did the normal routine and felt better afterwards. I continued to take pain meds until 9 pm Saturday night when I took the last dose. I had begun itching and my eyelids were swollen a bit so I opted to forego the meds and I’m happy now that I did. The itching has subsided and Acetaminophen is keeping pain at bay. I’ve come off of the laxatives and stool softener that was prescribed as that is normal now. So my drug supply has dwindled down considerably. Yay!

I’ll have PT again two days next week and two days the following week and my bandage should come off 10/13.

I’m still so surprised at how much better I feel this time with the anterior approach and no real restrictions. I’m being careful and trying to use precautions as I feel necessary but without the hospital stay, I think my routine has resumed quicker.

Thanks, y’all, for checking in and, like I said, no drama here. Just another boring but successful hip joint in its new home!
WOOHOO!!!!

Wow exciting...glad to hear all is good!

Boring and successful is what we’re going for! I got the swollen eyes/itchy body crud from my pain meds too. Couldn’t wait to get off of the oxy. Glad to see you’re doing so well.

Wonderful news!!! Yay you!

Itching and puffy eyes didn’t sound too comfortable so am glad your body could do without them.
I missed giving you my good wishes pre op- I was a bit down and out from my booster.

You have the best outlook, good job @beachgal ..

Great news. You're off to a good start. I hope you have a fantastic week!
@beachgal

I didn’t sleep three hours last night. Couldn’t get comfy. My tiny back spasm wouldn’t resolve. Just a restless night until 4 am. The up side is that I walked more after midnight than I did all day yesterday so I’m moving around much better. I’ve walked down to get coffee and already been to potty. I’m going to continue ignoring the clock today and just rest when I can. All in all, def worth it. Part of the healing.

Hello and Happy Tuesday :wave:
How are you doing in these early days of recovery? Hopefully you had a decent day yesterday and got some restorative rest overnight. May today be a good one! :SUNsmile:
@beachgal

I hope you got a better night's sleep last night. It’s hard to remember what it felt like to actually sleep for 8 hours in a row, isn’t it? Well, each day we’re a little farther along in the process. And lucky you, you probably have nice warm weather to look forward to.

Thinking of you and hope all is well.

I hope that things are getting easier for you.
