It's called Voltaren. Old and closed "Pain meds" thread post # 11.

Ya know, I'm doing ok without the Advil. Tylenol doesn't do a thing, though. A wonderful surprise was having my Polymyalgia flare up again, worse than ever. I get stabbing pains in my shoulders at night. So when I'm asked which smiley face I am in the hospital, I guess I have to refer to the knee pain! Today's task is to clean everything up around here. People may be in and out etc..... I can't imagine ringing bells or talking to my husband on a walkie-talkie (he's hard of hearing.) What I'll miss the most is my freedom...and the car. Here I go......

Counselor.....You'll come through this just fine and we'll be looking forward to hearing from you after the surgery. You'll be in my prayers!!! Hurry back home!!!

In my prayers too! Another chick gets ready to hatch!

Good luck tomorrow counselor! We will be thinking about you and watching for a check in report in a few days. Karen

I'm home. Am bothered today by dizziness, chills and a headache. Leave it to me to recuperate with a dose of flu mixed in. Am reporting everything, though, so I'm not just hangin' out there. Biggest inconvenience is not being able to get to the bathroom without a drizzle down my leg first! I wasn't prepared for that! Pain is undercontrol pretty well. I sure miss my Advil, though.

I told some nurses about this great forum, and they seemed very interested.

Back to bed for me now. Thanks to everyone who wondered how I was doing.

Glad you're on the other side, counselor. Hang in there!

Welcome home, Counselor!!! Be sure to take your pain meds on schedule and don't forget the famous stool softeners. Take care and rest, ice, elevate too. You'll be busy enough with all that this first week at home! But do let us hear from you when you feel like it.

Has anyone else experienced my bathroom problem. Urgency...can't make it....quite damp...s_ _ _! I do the kiegles(sp?) with all my might.

For sure, counselor! Some of us leak like sieves!

Did you spot this post about 'convenience' products?

Thanks, everyone for your good wishes. The bahroom issue is resolving itself slowly, but the trickle is at the same rate when it does happen! I'm exactly 14 days post op today and saw my doctor. The staples came out painlessly. Doc says I can drive by the end of the week! I don't feel ready. I'm starting outside-of-the- home PT on Monday. Does this sound fast to any of you?? My surgeon is unbelieveably self-assured with the surgery he performed and isn't in the slightest surprised by my progress. Not that he said, "Oh what great progress," mind you. He's just getting what he expected to get...speedy recovery...which is why I chose him in the first place.

One of the keys to driving would be whether or not you are still on prescription pain meds. You should not drive at all if you are. As new as you are to the recovery process, you may need pain meds in order to successfully perform your exercises. But it's great news that you're doing so well!!! Hooray!!!
