Saw my surgeon this week. He waved away my question about toenail polish like it was from stone age time. Said there are several ways to check for circulation and polish is no big deal.

By the way, as you probably know, I'll come home 3 lbs. heavier due to the new knee device. Dr. said the leg wouldn't feel heavier, but it would show on the scale.

Not 3lbs, counselor - just a little bitty 10 ounces.

The extra weight is from good ole Barack.

I thought this thread was going to be about meeting the US President-Elect, Barack Obama...

Living near DC (35 miles) I had hoped to be able to get downtown on the 20th for the inauguration, but as the date grows closer and the rumors of the crowds exceeding all expectation, I think i might enjoy the swearing in ceremony from the comfort of my lazy-boy and on my new HDTV. LOL

You have to admit my tag was an attention getter. I'm hearing more and more about busloads going down...there and back within 2-3 days. I'll watch TV if I'm not too groggy from surgery.

It was definitely an attention getter. It will be interesting to watch the inauguration. I would bet the security planning has to be one monumental task.

Not to mention setting off all the security magnometers due to all our shiny joints!!!!!! (even if we could get close!)

I work at the Pentagon and there is no way in %$ll that you will find me in the District on inauguration day or weekend for that fact. Lucky for me, inauguration day is considered a holiday for National Capital Region government employees. That'll be a 4-day weekend with MLK day coming the day before. Yipee! My daughter works for a non-profit and she gets the day off also.

I hear one of the big issues is going to be lack of toilets. They just can't get enough porto-Johns in to handle the expected 1-5 million people.

I think they are wrong about the weight of these new knees, mine must weigh at least 20lbs, that's how much I have gained since I had mine done....LOL... Sue

Knocked out with anesthia and heavy narcotics is certainly one way to face this inaguration. OOOps my conservative is showing...

Jen be glad you don't live here. Every headline is about the inaugeration and all the road closures. The bridges into the District will be closed, and major sections of the city will be closed to vehicles. To get into the city from Virginia, a driver will have to circle around the parimeter and drive in from Maryland. They will have the bridges open to pedestrians. Keep in mind the temps will probably be well below freezing. We are well overdue for snow also.

Jen, here's a story for you: https://voices.washingtonpost.com/i...vive_hurricane_obama_lie_un.html?hpid=topnews

I'm closing my office from the 17th until the 21st, its located on the beltway less than a 1/2 mile from the Metro Orange Line (New Carrollton). I'll rent floor space for anyone interested in going to the inauguration, at the going rate of $10,000 a night!

Of course that includes use of our community bathroom, gym and corporate coffee maker!

As for me, I'll be getting my 6 week clearance just about the time barack puts his hand on the Bible.

Mudpro's not kidding....too much. People are renting out their apts for crazy rates! 2-3k a night! A lot of people are talking about spending the night in their offices too.

I'm at the other end of the Orange Line (Vienna) and then some...
