Hello:
I would like to share experiences with other dancers who have had hip resurfacing surgery and are now back to dancing. I am two years post op - feeling good most of the time - dancing about 2-3 hours a day, five days a week and teaching six days a week. I look forward to hearing from you!

Gosh! That's some goal. I relaly hope you attain it. By the way, you don't mention your age. Helps give us some idea of your situation.

Hi Josephine:

Thank you for your reply. The activities I posted ARE the things I am now doing again after bilateral resurfacing surgery in April of 2006. The issue I still have is in the range of motion I have yet to achieve. I can do a full split front and back with relative ease after I am warm but my middle splits are still not yet 180 degrees like they have always been. My surgeon has said on several occasions that this goal IS achievable. I am doing soft tissue work with a physical therapist and of course lots of stretching and strengthening on my own. I'm very happy with my progress thus far. I dance well and to most other dancers, I would seem entirely "normal" again.

Any dancers have any suggestions?

Wow! That is amazing! But there is absolutely NO reason why you cannot achieve what you have described. None whatsoever. Al power to you!
