WHOA.....it's been a very rainy, damp, cold day in North Carolina. It's been a BAAAAAD knee day. I took a 5mg perc. when I got to work and another at lunch!!.....that didn't knock any of the "bad" off. We've actually had some nice warm days, lately....my trees are ready to burst with blooms. I have NO idea how you guys that live in very cold climates have dealt with the added pain that it gives you!!!

owie....

I think the barometric pressure changes bother me more than cold. Many up here in the rainy northwest don't need to watch TV to forecast a storm blowing in from the Pacific. We can feel 'em coming in our joints!

I always hurt now more after any storm. Other thing Ireally hate about this time of year and my bad knees, ICE Fear to the point of tears...... i hope taht changes after surgey.

That's something that we rarely have to fear in North Carolina. I went on a ski trip last winter....I knew I wouldn't dare ski but I "watched" the rest of my family. I was SCARED to death while trying to walk around the lodge on the ice.
Before you know it, you'll have two new knees....won't that be wonderful??

I hate the snow and the cold!!!!!!! I wanna ride my bikes! Besides, heating fuel is $3.37 a gallon here! How is everyone doing tonight?

It's getting too expensive to LIVE!! I'm two months post op and still needing medicine....i'm not really liking that but can't do much about it right now. Especially today with the damp weather. Am I going to be on drugs forEVER???

Here in southern Ohio there is a blizzard warning and we already have 5 inches of snow on the ground and supposed to get another 7-8 tomorrow. I knew this was going to be a bad one by how my knees felt last night and today. I went to therapy today because I thought I'm doing so good since the manipulation I didn't want to jinks it so off I went and boy oh boy was it bad out.

Bless your heart! I'm so glad the "MANI" worked for you! I can't imagine having this knee in THAT weather!!!....if the "damp" is killing me, what would the bitter cold do?????

God Bless meds and I'm taking them as long as I need them that's for sure. Spring can't be too far away but the way things are going I think we are all going to have to wear our winter coats hats and gloves on Easter Sunday.

Hello everyone, wow there are a lot of posts today. Been too busy working to look in much. I also managed an hour's nap this afternoon, then back to work(at home that is).
Trying to catch up for the past 3 lousy nights. So it's 12.30am now and I still can't sleep, so decided to check in for a while. Sorry you are having such wet weather. Actually I suffer with my knees on the damp days much worse than in minus 25-40C. Though when the snow is the wet stuff rather than the powder I suffer more. We have snow more often than not for Easter, but we usually go to our friends on Good Friday and have wine and hot cross buns, though this year they are on a cruise, and Kevin will still be in Europe. Actually two lots of my friends are driving to Florida as I write, so I asked if they would mind bringing some snow to you Patti on the way!! Might be melted by then though!! We are getting snow now and tomorrow it is supposed to be really bad.
Hope the roads are cleared by Sunday as we are off to the Bass Pro store.

We have a HUGE Bass Pro store near our house. Girl, take a bag of cash or FAT credit card!!

Yesterday's gloom is followed by today's Carolina Blue and Sunshine AND wind that will blow your socks off! I suppose it blowing all of the damp away....blow on - blow on!!

I'm taking a little trip to the local "Bath and Body" store this morning....need some more "Grapefruit" spray....yummmm

I hope you ALLL have a great, pain free, grunt free, GOUT free, Saturday!!
(probably just wishful thinking!!)
Ciao!

We are definitely having a blizzard here in NE Ohio. It's so intimidating out there I will avoid going out any way I can. The worst thing over the past week, other than this huge amount of snow, has been the ice storms. I had trouble staying upright pre-surgery. It is so scary. Even the railings on handicap ramps were completely encased in ice this week. I dread the ice much more than the snow.

My knees have been so bad this week - and I'm at 4 1/2 months post op. A new PT I saw this week measured my knees and told me I'm having swelling due to edema. Weather-related? I think so - and it's made me lose ground with my ROM - frustrating, but I know I'll get it together and bounce back.

Don't you dare have the bring any snow to Fla. I don't even want to see an ice cube in my tea right now. It's windy and cold. My knee is swollen and I have the old deep ache. Took two aleve, and an oxycodine. I don't think I could possibly survive up north.

Blizzard warnings and already about 8-10 inches of snow with 6-10 more expected. I can't wait for warmer weather to get here. I can tell when the barometer drops---I know ahead of time without watching the news when the weather is going to turn bad...and, tonight, we lose an hour'ssleep!

Tim C.

Tim. I know what you mean about the barometer dropping. It seems when the weather gets damp, I get sore all over. My TKR knee used to be the first place I got sore, now it seems to be the lower back. I guess the new knee is getting better but the lower back, from limping all these years, is showing some "stenosis" as the Doctor says. Hopefully as your new knee heals, the discomfort will diminish. Ugggg....I wonder is we will ever be totally pain or discomfort free in this life time?? You know, sometimes, I just say the heck with the pain and "push" it to the limit. It actually does not make me ache anymore than I already do. And I feel better when I go over and above my daily chores. IM NOT SAYING YOU SHOULD DO IT! But sometimes it feels good to use parts of my body that have not been exercised in a while and feel a different soreness. For example, the other day I raked and thatched my lawn by hand. My right shoulder is sore now, but its because I used it for several hours raking the grass. But the soreness is nothing like the pain of the TKR! And thanks for reminding me about the time change! God Bless and heal well!

Chuck

Jennifer: Do I understand you correctly, you have not had your TKR yet? If not, when are you scheduled for? Sorry if you already told us but there is so many posts here, I get boggled a bit.

Nursepair - I had trouble sleeping and would take a pain med to help with sleep and less pain, then realized I could easily get into the habit of needing pain meds to sleep. So, I spoke to my PCP and she gave me Trazodone. It is non-habit forming and works great. You might want to talk to your doctor. I have felt so much better now that I get a good night's rest. I'm praying for you and hoping your weather turns to spring soon!

I know exactly what everyone in cold weather is going through. My leg and hip/lower back is killing me!! Been through several crying bouts today already. Hubby and I went to the mall and after 20 minutes I was ready to yell "Uncle"---"no more please". Hopefully if the OS agrees with manipulation I will have a little more movement in my leg--tired of tripping over things because I can't lift my leg. I want Spring and I want it NOW!!!
