Back to Work!

Marianne,

From the voice of experience, I always rushed back to work after my previous 8 surgeries including ones where I was still in a full leg cast (trying doing chemistry with one leg propped up on a stool) and paid the price big time over the years. I am sure the OA got much worse because I did not take care of myself.

I luckly work from home but I did not rush back to work. I started back part time after 4 weeks and because of the sleep problem continued part time for another week. Like I said I work from home and I had bought a lap top which I started using the 2nd week so I could be in the recliner, get up and exercise or even go to bed.

What you will probably find that if you push it too hard, you will actually end up taking more time off.

Hope you are doing alright.

Simon

Its still tourist season - Tickets are outrageous - but you are all welcome anytime! We have an empty spare bedroom!

Exhausted, chills/sweats, swelling, some color issues and 80 ROM that will not budge - Sorry about not getting on before now. Friday's PT stunk. I iced all afternoon and did my best to stretch at work b4 PT. Unfortunately I bombed out again. The PT was awesome, but during the bending she worked and worked and worked until tears rolled down my face and she could not make it go further. (At least I didn't yelp like back on Monday). Really swollen after all that and very sore. Came home, fed the kiddo and she handled the dogs and crawled into bed with the ice machine for the night. Saturday I sleep till 11 (after moving to the chair at 7) then tried to get motivated to shower - took a 2 hour nap after that and then had to take my kiddo to a bday party where I sat with my knee elevated - but I did the drive so no meds - got home around 7 ad went to bed - same thng - moved to the chair at 10 pm back to the bed when I woke up at 1AM back to the chair at 7am and finally awake at 11. Showered and wanted to go back to bed but held it together and got a few things done. Then a nap and now here I am yawning and waiting to go back to sleep. The OS said I would have some good days and some bad days - I guess these have been the bad days. I can say I have never ever been this tired after anything. My sister in NY suggested talking to the OS. SO I am going to call him tomorrow and try to bump up my APT to this week. Working only half days this week. WIll decide what to do after talking with OS. Dropped the hydrocodone to 5s instead of 10s on Friday thinking maybe it was the meds draining me. Trying to take ine 5 every 8 hours or right b4 PT.

I will check back tomorrow after PT and talking with OS office. You guys are sooooooo wonderful and I am sorry I didn't post. This is the first time the computer has been on since Thursday night.

I have to get Jessi motivated to shower so we can go to bed - her first day is tomorrow! Hopefully she will do great and I will survive since it is half day only for me.

THANK YOU for all your concern - It means so much to have you all as a support systerm - I really fooled myself thinking I could pull it together so fast - but everything I have read says I should have made more gains in ROM and 80 is not a great place to be.

Marianne (Please forgive me - and again - if you are ever up here - please let me know - we are 45 minutes north of Anchorage - 2 hours south of Denali veiwinf and 4 from Denali itself. A great place to visit)

SOOOO glad to hear from you, happy you are okay. My kids are back to school tomorrow. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad, or maybe a little of both???

Marianne,
Just thought I would touch base with you.
Hope you are feeling better. Have you been able to get an appointment with your OS?
Take care.
