I went back to the gym for the first time today. 20min on the elliptical. was good to get back there and sweat a little. Hip/leg did great.

I am 4 weeks post op.

I have about a 4-6 inch "patch" of numbness on my leg, to the side just above my ankle. I have found that I can "tweak" it by pressing the inside of my upper thigh, I assume it is an unhappy sciatic nerve, is this a common post-op occurrence? I googled and found a couple things about sciatic palsy or something like that...the couple of cases I read about cleared up in a year or so. I hope it doesn't last that long. I'll see the surgeon for my first visit after surgery on Thursday, we'll see what he says.

Thanks,
Rob

I like that phrase "unhappy sciatic nerve"!

Truthfully, could be fromback problems, general
position - but I doubt it's as severe as sciatic palsy - otherwise oft referred to as 'dropped foot'. That's not too common. The others are. But the conclusion is the same - they clear up in time.
