Hello all, today was my first Aqua Aerobics class since THR just over 7 weeks ago. It felt good moving in the pool and I could do about 95% of the program. I walked instead of jogging up the pool and modified most of the leg cool down stretches. I got the odd little cramp in the muscles above my knee at the back of my leg if I pushed it too hard.

Let's see how I feel tonight/tomorrow!

Jaz,
Aqua aerobics sounds like fun. I just went straight to swimming at around 4 1/2 weeks.
Hope you are feeling great.
Judy

Last week I got to switch my PT to the pool they have. It is 96 degrees and I love it. Afterwards I am in so much less pain.

Oh cool! That sounds good stuff.

I love exercising in the pool. Prior to my surgery, my husband and I built our own pool in the backyard. The construction was delayed a little so I've only been able to use it for the past 2 weeks. I complete the exercises they had me do during aquatic physical therapy. It is so wonderful!!!! Additionally, we put in a spa. After a long, hard day at work I fire up the spa and get in. It's heavenly.

Well I was in bed asleep by 9.30pm last night so it must have wore me out a bit but I felt great all afternoon and evening and had a very sound nights sleep. I am tempted to go back tonight even if just to walk or jog up and down the pool for awhile.

Jaz,
I am at 7 months and have been doing the Gym/pool exercises since about 9 weeks... i start out in the Gym and then on to the pool...I do leg exercises, water jogging and walking laps four times a week in the pool...Then I get in the hot tub for about 3-5 minutes to cool down. Did this before my THR and started back after. It does help so much and I am actually so relaxed when I get home....Keep it up....It is probably the BEST therapy any one can do after THR...Patty

I was attending a meeting at our local pool yesterday and stopped to watch the ladies water aerobics class - looks neat!

Jo,
To be honest at 50 I am one of the youngest ones in the pool. The older ladies love it. They do leg exercises and arm exercises along with walking or with one of those noodles, jogging...You really feel refreshed afterwards. That is why I do the machines in the gym and then go directly to the pool...Try it sometime....Patty

Must say it looked inviting and yes - I did notice that most of the participants looked 'senior'!

The daytime classes at my gym are definately full of 'senior' attendees even though there is a separate 'senior spa' class. The evening classes tend to be younger people coming after work or Mum's coming once hubby is home to look after the children. There are three pools at my gym so often families come, the children playing in the other pools while the parents do a class.

I'm going back tonight with the children in tow.

Patty - the hot tub sounds good. I might have a spa while I'm down there.
