Well, I know it but not the way you mean!
[Bonesmart.org] Anyone know of Wrightington Hospital?

Hi Pat. Another Brit here! My second cousin had both hips replaced at the Wrightington hospital quite a few years ago with great success. That is until last week when she had a stroke and has now lost the use of her legs. My only connection with Wrightington is that the company I work for in Bradford which puts on training events, courses, seminars etc uses the Wrightington Hotel as its northwest venue. I presume this is the same Wrightington! 'The company I work for' makes it sound very grand - there are in fact only two of us and my boss is far from delighted that I'm having to have time off again for my second revision. I had 10 weeks off in Aug 2005 following my bilateral UKR, 8 weeks off after my left knee revision to TKR in April this year and now I guess I'm looking at about the same again after my revision of the revision in November. Will try get back sooner this time as I'll be on Statutory Sick Pay having used up all my sick leave allowance earlier in the year. Can anyone give me any idea of recovery time for a second revision with a longer stem? Sorry, I seem to have wandered away from your original question! Lin

Hi Lin
nice to hear from you, another Brit, and I dont hold the war of the roses thingy to heart..LOLOLOL.
My brother lives near Bradford but still supports Wigan RLFC.
Sorry to hear you have been having problems with your knees, cant help with any of your questions, as I'm totally new to all this lot....
Its a bummer being on SSP, I know as I was last year when I had my arthroscopy....and went back too soon..only lasted 8 weeks before they sent me home and I have been off ever since.
Shame my bosses omitted to tell me that because the accident was at work that caused my injury, I was entitled to 85% of my pay whilst off sick...if I had known that I would not have had to go back in the first place.......
Still I know now, and am in NO rush to go back until I am fit enough..I work as a prison nurse, and am on my feet from 7am - 6pm.....REALLY....its hell....so I'm going nowhere until I can cope properly.....
The Wrightington Hotel you mentioned is just down the road from the great Hospital itself, In my days there, patients used to come from all over the world to have surgery as it was only done in very few places, and their relatives used to stay at the hotel..
its a lot posher now than it was,
Gonna go now, just done 15mins on bike and want to put my feet up for a bit...
Speak soon I hope
its great making new friends on here..
Love and hugs Pat xx

Hi Pat
I know I've got to be sensible about the going back to work thing. At the end of the day my health is more important than the money, and if I go back too soon I know it could be counter-productive in the long run. As a family we've already decided that Christmas will be 'frugal' this year as we've a son (my step-son) getting married in Inverness in November and it's costing us all an arm and a leg to get there and stay as none of us live near there. Don't know why he couldn't marry a good Bradford lass! I've just cut the grass so am having to take it easy now - any excuse! Speak again soon I hope. Lin
