Revision THR Another Second Chance

Day 56. Week 8
I like taking long walks (averaging 14,000k steps a day for the last 2 weeks),
I enjoy riding my bike with my kids (up to 7 miles now),
Walking the dogs a couple times a day feels great,
Stairs are getting easier (15-24 flights a day),
Driving in the car is also getting easier for longer stretches.
First real PT session is this Thursday.
The scar looks the same as it did around 8 weeks last time. Same exact place!
I will be returning to work next Monday!

Although I’ve been waking up at 6AM in order to get my daughter to swim practice, it’s back to 4AM wake-ups for work next week. It’s been very nice these past 8 weeks!

8 hours of sleep! Ha, that’s an old wives tale. Not saying you’re an old wife, but I may see 8 hours on a weekend once in a while.
I average between 5 1/2 to 7 hours a night.

Day 58. First day of PT!

I probably shouldn’t tell you what I did. It might get me banned. :heehee:

Started with 10 min on the stationary bike. I made it 3 miles. Then, in order 1-5 below.
Followed by some hamstring stretching on the table and glute massage.

Feels really good. Still finding some weakness in front when trying to get lower than the heel tap on the box. I suppose that tendon that was ‘locked’ up in front of the cup and associated muscles are really weak?

Number 1 was standing on a foam pad, not a Bosu ball!! For number 4 I had a 2 pound weight on my ankle.

That’s all for today!

No ban. :)
No two recoveries are the same as no two bodies are.
Just don't want people to overdo and cause themselves issues like tendinitis and you are the only one who knows what your body is ready for.
At two months, seems a bit much to me..
But I am not you...so all the best!:dancy:

@Mojo333
Thanks! It does look like a lot. When I compare it to my first recovery 6 years ago, it’s about the same BUT 3-4 weeks delayed. I feel great this morning. The lower back was a tad sore last night. Probably the bridges on the exercise ball. I may not use the ball next week and just do them with feet on the ground.

Other than that, it was a good workout. That’s how I am approaching PT, as a workout. I’m trying to build the muscles that were not used properly back into shape. Like Josephine wrote in one is her ‘anti-PT’ articles, the ROM is there, just need to let it show itself. So, I have read and re-read that article. I understand everything she put into it, I’m just different I guess. I’ll know when I push to far and the pain is not just achy, sore muscles from getting worked. If anything in the hip starts t bother me, I WILL BACK OFF! I promise.

Thanks again, all of you!

I might steal this (with my edits) and paste it to all the new people. It's easy for us to project what works for us onto other people.

As the saying goes, "if it works, it ain't stupid."

My son has been in Recovery from drugs...seven years clean now and he has encountered many people with staunch ideas about what works.
He says "there is no wrong way to get clean"
I do think that folks should think of their hip recovery as let the healing happen first...and there has to be a conservation of energy especially the first crucial weeks for this to happen.

@Mojo333 Headed to a lacrosse tournament in Boulder, CO. It’s currently 44° and forecast to rain all day. There are somebody parts of the Colorado mountains that are expecting up to 8” of snow!
Hope your weekend is nicer.

Nicer...um, sure.
High of 95F today with heat index of 100:SUNsmile:
Definitely going to spend some time fishing and floating!

Safe travels!
