Hi all,
Had my left knee TKR on 1/2/08. After six previous surgeries it was finally time and I was finally old enough. Therapy is going well - around 100 by myself and around 115 when I'm yelling "Uncle" at my PT. Working to make it straighter though is tough. I'm doing ok with pain, but last night I tried going the night without any perc's and I didn't sleep well at all.

I'm a disabled vet. Served from 1986-1998 until my discharge for my knee. I'm a proud mom to a wonderful 6 year old red head son who is the joy of my life.

I found this site by accident and love it. I wish you all well!

Steph

Hey Steph,
Thanks for serving and welcome.
I'm retired from the Tallahassee(fl) Police Dept.
I had my knee replaced 1/17 after eight other operations.
I have to take a pill every morning when I wake up. No options. If it's my knee workout morning, I take one when I get home. Usually I can make it into the evening but then forget it. I take one around 8 and another at 10.
I am up at all hours of the night still so check in if you are up.

Doug

Welcome, Steph. You will come to feel like this forum is the gateway to your new family and support group. I wish this URL were given to every person having TKR as it has been the difference for so many of us. Ask anything you want... and we do mean anything. Just ask Pattipoo... or Hemi as we like to call her. Josephine, our guide will have the answer for sure.

God bless your recovery!
Skeet - I'm in Oregon. Where are you?

Hello Steph, glad you found the site, it is wonderful, the people on here are amazing!! Good luck with your recovery.

Welcome Steph! We know your pain....we know what's ahead of you...we'll help you through anything...and I DO mean anything. Don't hold back, I didn't, we've all put our "problems" out on the table for others to help us solve. (welllllll.....I didn't put my "problems" out on the table because that would have been...well...gross....but I did give a clear enough description that you could have picked them out in a line up!!)

Glad you're here!

Hi Steph and welcome to the late night, early morning, what ever time of the day place where you can find someone that knows exactly how you feel, what you are going through and understands.
I had my first knee done 1/4 and am going back for second round 3/14. I can't sleep very well either some nights and especially without meds. I have tried it many times. Thus it is now 4am and I have been up since 2:30am. Took meds and am going to try to go back to bed soon. Just pop on here when you are up, and you will find you are not alone.

Hey Steph - welcome.

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words. I saw my OS on Thursday and he knows that I've been workind hard but did say that if in another 3 weeks I don't show improvement in both flexion and extension that he may consider an MUA...I told him no way I'll get it done. Tried again to sleep without pain meds...again up all night. I'm going to try the Tylenol Sleep and see how that works. I don't want to waste my pain meds for some stiffness at night.

Other than that had a great weekend. Went all day yesterday without taking any pain meds and the break from PT was actually a good thing I think. Walking much better this weekend also.

Hope you are all well and thanks again for the welcome!

Steph

btw I'm in New Jersey!

I'm two weeks behind you and I can't sleep at all w/o the meds. I take one early a.m. and am usually good for the rest of the day. But when the sun goes down, the deep ache comes out and demands to be fed.
Good luck on the ROM. I go see my OS on the 11th. Hope he's happy with it. I am.

Hi Steph, welcome to the best site in the world for sharing on TKR's and everything that goes along with it...anxiety, depression, pain and wondering when it will all go away. WE all seem to help each other here by sharing our good and bad experiences. AND, it will only get better each and every day as we recover from our TKR. I see your from NJ. I am too. God Bless and look forward to hearing more from you.
Godspeed in your recovery,
Chuck T-Man
